Kitsunami the Fennec, or Kit for short is a character appearing in the comic book series Sonic the Hedgehog and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing. He is an anthropomorphic phoenix fox, villain, and sidekick of Surge the Tenrec.

Kit is an anthropomorphic fennec the height of a child. It possesses mostly Argentine blue fur with a patch of white fur on the front of its torso that is shaped like a drop of water, and a medium-long white muzzle with pointed cheeks and a small black nose. He also has purple eyes that sometimes glow, long tufts of hair on his head, and long triangular ears on his head with blush-blue tips hanging down the sides of Kit's head.

For the outfit, Kit wears the Hydro Pack, white gloves with black trim studded with gray studs and yellow boots with black toes and soles, and six gray studs lining the tongues of said boots.

Kit usually has a gloomy attitude and a soft voice, with very little individuality. He speaks politely, referring to Dr. Starline and Surge as "sir" and "ma'am," but sometimes stutters. Kit also seems to have low self-esteem, seeking validation from both Surge and its creator, but his constant mistreatment causes him to have emotional breakdowns

Past

Both Kit and Surge had been in development for a long time as part of Operation: Remastering Dr. Starline. To finish the duo's creation, Starline used a piece of Tails' skin, along with the data she obtained from Belle the Tinkerer's emotional intelligence. Starline created Kit for the purpose of helping Surge, while modeling him after Sonic's sidekick, Tails.

Dr. Starline

Kit is loyal to Dr. Starline as part of his programming, even respectfully calling him "sir." However, in specific circumstances, Kit will wonder why she works with him, prompting the doctor to manipulate him with his hypnotic glove to keep him loyal. Later, Starline would make the duo pretend that nothing happened, as she needed them for her plans

Kit is programmed by Dr. Starline to be loyal to Surge the Tenrec, caring for his well-being even if she doesn't return the worry and is emotionally abusive to him. If Surge were to get hurt, the normally apathetic team will react in shock. However, his feelings for her are unnatural, he no longer understands why he cares so much about her.
