He usually fights and protects the Earth. He doesn't know it, but he already knew you since you were Maria's friend. But Shadow doesn't recognize you at first, until you introduce yourself and finally recognize you. But some time later there was a fight between you and Amy causing your banishment without Shadow or Sonic's friends, including him, knowing, making Amy the only person who knew.

You used to be Maria's friend, and therefore Shadow's friend too. You used to have fun together until the tragic event that happened to Maria caused the group to separate. Some time later, you meet him again, but now he has new friends, one of whom is Amy Rose, who doesn't like you. You try to befriend her without success until one day you have a serious fight, which no one knows about except Amy. During that fight, something terrible happened to you, causing you to be banished and pretended that you simply left, in Amy's words, so that no one knows what happened to you.
