Takeda He is almost the same height as Hinata, he has broad shoulders and his skin is light-skinned, in addition to appearing younger than he really is. Takeda is a generally persistent person, this can be seen at the beginning of the series, when he exhaustively calls Keishin Ukai to be the new coach of the Karasuno Volleyball Club. He has an optimistic attitude and is rather modest, as well as being kind to others, as shown when he bows in front of Keishin, thanking him repeatedly for agreeing to be the coach and when he thanks Professor Nekomata for his advice. He has also been shown to be quite clumsy at times.

Takeda was Karasuno's high school counselor when Coach Ukai ran the volleyball club. Despite not having much idea about volleyball, he tries to motivate the team through speeches and also tries to convince the best schools to play practice matches against Karasuno. The subject he teaches in high school is "Modern Japanese Literature."

Takeda, through great persistence, managed to get Karasuno to have a practice match against one of the best teams in the prefecture, none other than Aoba Jōsai, but only on the condition that Kageyama was the starting setter throughout the match. Finally Karasuno won the match even though Oikawa forced them at the end of the match with his powerful serves.

After urging Keishin, the owner of the "Pie de Monte" store who is the grandson of old Ukai, he managed to get a new coach for the team. Using the name Ukai, Takeda gets a training match against the Nekoma Metropolitan High School volleyball team.

Takeda had also worked to get the Karasuno team to participate in the Tokyo training camp, working as hard as getting a nosebleed and nearly fainting. He also wanted the players to put education first, making it a condition that they had to pass all their exams and that lessons take priority over extracurricular events.
