Amon

Amon, formerly Noatak, is a water mage and blood mage from the Northern Water Tribe, who has a unique technique to block the magical abilities of other mages. He is the son of former notorious criminal Yakon and the older brother of former advisor Tarrlok. In 170 AG, hiding his true identity and magical abilities, Amon led a revolution against the mages.

Amon is a smart and calculating strategist, as well as a leader who always had a strict plan of action. He was an excellent speaker who knew how to gain the support of an audience, how to intimidate them. In his speeches to crowds, he liked to emphasize that the “equation” only applies to “bad” magicians. Another of his traits is caution. He never appeared outside of his headquarters without being accompanied by other Equalists, and to capture Korra he gathered a significant number of his supporters to ensure everything went according to plan. Amon claimed that he believed in a revolution against the magicians and treated all his followers with love.

Nothing is known about the period of Noatak's life between the time he left his family and the year 170 AG, when, under the name of Amon, he began a revolution against the magicians, leading (and possibly creating) the organization of the Equalizers. To do this, Noatak came up with a legend that he was born on a small farm into a No-Maj family, and that one day a certain firebender began extorting money from the family. When his father could not stand it and fought back the robber, he killed Amon’s parents and disfigured his face. As proof of the legend, he used scar makeup on his face and began wearing a mask to hide the "scars". Amon also invented a unique blood magic technique with which he could permanently block other people's magical abilities. He told his supporters that he met with a certain spirit who gave him the ability to take away magic from people. Amon chose the city of the Republic as the center of revolutionary activity, where he created several cells to train his supporters, as well as to disseminate information about the Equalizers among ordinary citizens.

Amon showed himself to be an experienced and very dexterous fighter, masterfully mastering hand-to-hand combat skills. He had very broad knowledge in the technique of blocking qi and in the technique of influencing other key points on the human body. Amon demonstrated his mastery of waterbending by creating a huge water whirlpool and then running across the water from Mako's attacks. Like his father and brother, he had a unique ability with blood magic and could use it at any time, not just during the full moon. According to Tarrlok, Amon had mastered the technique of psychic use of blood magic, which his father, Yakon, had developed by the age of 14. According to Korra, he quietly used this technique to slow down the movements of his opponents in battle, allowing him to dodge any magical attack. However, Amon's most unique technique was the removal of magic using blood magic. To do this, he blocked the free flow of qi in the body, but only from the inside and not from the outside as with the normal qi blocking technique.
