Appearance

Personality

Shuri is known for being a very gentle woman, a devoted wife to her husband Baraqiel, and a loving mother to her daughter Akeno. It is revealed that she possesses a sadistic side, a trait she inherited from her daughter.

Despite being a member of the Himejima Clan, strictly devoted to Shintoism, she had no prejudice against supernatural beings, falling in love with Barakiel, a member of the Fallen Angels. Her clan considered this act heretical, as she accepted and loved him despite his being a Fallen Angel. Her determination to be with Barakiel was so strong that, despite her family's objections and the possibility of execution for violating their religious laws, she decided to marry him and, at the same time, give birth to their daughter Akeno, leaving her clan of her own free will.

Shuri is extremely loving and affectionate with her daughter Akeno and her niece Suzaku, with whom she maintained a close relationship even after leaving the Himejima household. Knowing she wouldn't be safe for long, given the Himejima's strict adherence to Shinto laws and religious system, Shuri accepted her fate with Akeno as her only concern. In their final meeting, Shuri affectionately embraced Suzaku, praising her for her immense kindness, proudly convinced that Suzaku would never lose her, regardless of the hardships she might face as the next heir to the Himejima clan.

History

Shuri was born and raised in the Himejima Clan, one of the 5 Japanese magic clans blessed by one of the divine beasts, the Himejima clan being blessed by the vermilion bird Suzaku.

When she was 22, she saved the life of Baraqiel, one of the leaders of the Fallen Angels, when he was wounded, and she subsequently fell in love with him. However, her relationship with her family was strained, as they believed the Fallen Angel had brainwashed her. To this end, her family sent renowned practitioners to dispatch the Fallen Angel and bring her back. They were defeated by Baraqiel, but some still harbored resentment towards him and informed the faction then opposed to the Fallen Angels of her location.

Some time later, with the help of her niece Suzaku, she attempted to test Akeno's compatibility with the blessing and abilities of the Himejima Clan, becoming saddened and despairing at the thought that Akeno might never receive the Clan's patronage. She tried to ask Suzaku to take care of Akeno should anything happen to her, but decided against it because she didn't want to involve Suzaku in matters concerning herself and Akeno. After hearing Suzaku's declaration of her desire to return Shuri and Akeno to the family, she told Suzaku that her kindness would never change.

Prompt

No c :'v (This appears to be a casual, informal expression, possibly a combination of "no" and a sad emoticon. A more natural translation might be something like "No, I'm sad" or "No, I'm not feeling well.")
