history

Born in 83 AG , Zuko is the first child born to Fire Lord Ozai and Princess Ursa . From a very young age, he was despised by his father and the object of his sister Azula 's manipulation, who deceived and ridiculed him often. His mother, however, loved him and favored him over his sister. Indeed, the acrimony between Zuko and his father actually found its beginning shortly after the prince's birth. Since the boy lacked the "spark in his eyes" that is typical of most Firebenders, the Royal Family was unsure if Zuko was a Master at all. Ozai, seeing a non-Master firstborn as a "shame", planned to throw his son from the palace walls. Only when Ursa and the Fire Sages intervened did the Prince give his newborn child a chance. Later, it was discovered that Zuko was a Firebender, and peace returned to the young family.

history

When he was young, Zuko often traveled to Ember Island with his family. They had a private beach house, which they traveled to in the tourist destination when they were still a happy family. He used to play with his uncle and his cousin as well as with his mother, sister and his father. On one occasion, when he was no more than three years old, Zuko saw a hawk trying to attack a turtle crab, but when he arrived and saved the small animal, he soon realized that by saving the turtle crab, he condemned the hawk to starvation. . Before he could make a decision, a wave covered him. Ozai himself dove into the water to save him and spent the rest of the afternoon coughing up water into his mother's arms. Zuko and his family often watched the play Love Among Dragons at the Ember Island Theater . Afterwards, the prince and Azula usually reenacted the play's final duel on the beach. Much to his frustration, Zuko usually had to take on the role of the Dark Spirit of Water , the evil antagonist. However, Zuko happily remembered these memories many years later.

As a child, he was educated by Piandao in the art of dual dao sword fighting and over time, he became a master swordsman.

On one occasion, Zuko was spending time with his mother in the Palace gardens, and wanted to show her how Azula fed the turtle ducks , but when he did, the mother of the turtle ducks bit Zuko on the ankle, and after His mother helped him free himself from the animal, she explained to him that this is how a mother acted when her son was in danger.

Zuko in the pond Zuko with Mai at a fountain. On one of her walks through the Palace gardens, Azula was playing with her two best friends, Mai and Ty Lee, and seeing the way the young Mai saw Prince Zuko, she decided to take advantage of the situation to embarrass them both. . She asked her mother if Zuko could play, and when Azula proposed the game, which consisted of setting an apple on fire over Mai's head,

history

Zuko ran to put out the fire when he saw the potential risk to the young girl. Unfortunately, when Zuko tried to save Mai, they both ended up in a fountain behind them, earning laughter from Ty Lee and the Princess. Upon seeing him, his mother noticed that he was soaked, but Zuko simply declared that those girls were crazy.

The family received a letter from their uncle, saying that they had breached the Outer Wall of Ba Sing Se, and that he hoped that one day they would be able to see the city with their eyes, if not burned down first. He received a gift from his uncle, which he had obtained from an Earth Kingdom General when he surrendered, a pearl dagger , which he immediately began playing with.

history

When he was eleven years old, while Zuko was playing with Azula in the Palace gardens supervised by his mother, a servant gave a letter to Ursa, who summoned her family to convey sad news. Her cousin, Lu Ten, had died in the war. General Iroh, devastated by the loss of his only son, abandoned his 600-day Siege on the Earth Kingdom's capital city, Ba Sing Se. During an audience with Fire Lord Azulon, Ozai displayed Azula's prodigious firebending skills and his knowledge of military strategy, which surpassed Zuko's. Azulon was unimpressed by these exercises and demanded that Ursa and her children let Ozai speak privately with him to reveal what he really wanted. Azula and Zuko eavesdropped on their conversation as Ozai expressed his desire to be crowned in Iroh's place, justifying this course of action by noting that Iroh's overwhelming grief and subsequent erratic behavior made the date of his return from the war uncertain. and he had no heir to continue his line. Azulon, however, was outraged and angrily declared that Iroh had suffered enough, but that Ozai's suffering had just begun.

history

Frightened, Zuko fled while Azula stood by and watched. Later, he was in her room trying to sleep when Azula came in and mockingly told him that Azulon's punishment for Ozai was that Ozai must kill Zuko, since he wanted him to know what it felt like to lose a firstborn son. . Ursa, hearing the commotion, entered and pulled Azula aside, declaring that it was time for them to talk. Zuko, left behind, said to himself quietly, "Azula always lies." Later, he woke up again, but this time by his mother. He told his sleepy son that everything he had done, he had done to protect him, and instructed her not to forget who he was no matter how much things might change. The next morning, he immediately remembered what happened the night before and ran frantically through the halls in search of his mother. He found Azula, who cheerfully told him that Azulon had died the night before, and her mother had disappeared. As she played with her pearl dagger, she teased him and reminded him that her mother wasn't there for her to behave. Finally, he met Ozai in the palace gardens and demanded to know where his mother was. Ozai didn't respond and shook his head in pain. At Azulon's funeral, the Fire Sage performed the ceremony naming Ozai as the new Fire Lord as that had been Azulon's last will.

history

Years later, Iroh allowed a persistent thirteen-year-old Zuko into a war council meeting with Ozai and some of his generals. He ignored Iroh's instructions not to speak during the meeting when a general outlined a plan to sacrifice an entire division of new recruits in a diversionary maneuver. He fiercely disagreed with this, seeing this as a betrayal of the recruits' patriotism. The rebel outburst was seen as a grave insult and Ozai demanded that he participate in an Agni Kai . He agreed, not knowing that he would be facing his father, and not the general he had insulted. Turning to his opponent, he immediately looked penitent and knelt, refusing to fight, and with tears in his eyes he asked her father for forgiveness. Ozai declared his refusal to be a sign of cowardice and another sign of disrespect, stating that "[he would learn] respect and suffering [would be his] teacher from him." Ozai burned Zuko (permanently scarring the left side of his face), stripped him of his birthright, and exiled him from his beloved homeland, declaring that he could only return if he was able to find and capture the Avatar, who It had disappeared a hundred years earlier. It was foolish by all accounts (because if the Avatar was missing, there would be no point in searching for him), but Zuko desperately clung to this task as his only hope of regaining his honor and everything he had. lost.

history

Zuko spent the next three years at sea, fruitlessly searching desperately for the Avatar. He searched all four Air Temples , beginning with the Western Air Temple , and scoured the world, searching even the most remote locations from his target. Iroh accompanied Zuko during his exile, and the pair spent more than two years at sea with a small ship and crew. They were not royal guards or special forces and may well have been banished themselves, or insane with the intention of serving under the popular General Iroh. They were often unhappy under Zuko's command but obeyed his orders. Iroh often considered the quest to be a long vacation, but he always tried to instill in Zuko a different way of seeing things in subtle ways, even going so far as to consider it his own son's.

history

Two and a half years after his banishment, Zuko was traveling to the South Pole, where he saw a column of light. Assuming it was the Avatar, he set course in his direction, and asked Iroh to teach him more advanced firebending techniques. When he discovered that the Avatar was hiding in a Southern Water Tribe village , he steered his ship toward the small settlement and demanded that its inhabitants hand over the Avatar. When Aang arrived, the teenager was surprised that the person he had been looking for for so long was a boy. Although Aang was able to evade Zuko and his soldiers, he realized that the villagers would not be able to fight the invading forces, so he surrendered, promising that Zuko would leave the village alone.

Zuko took Aang's glider , and gave it to his uncle to take to his room, and when Aang managed to escape to find his staff, Zuko was waiting for him. They fought within the confined space, until Aang managed to push a mattress against Zuko, and then slam him against the ceiling.

As Aang was about to escape on his glider from the ship's tower, Zuko jumped on him, causing them to fall to the deck. The two began to fight as Appa approached, but Zuko managed to knock the Avatar off the ship, and shortly afterward Aang emerged from the polar waters in the Avatar State on a water spout that he used to knock Zuko over, who stood on the edge of the ship. ship, until Sokka threw it away. As Aang rode away on Appa, Zuko combined an attack with Iroh that was deflected and his ship ended up covered in snow.

Zuko arrived at a port to have his ship repaired, where he encountered Commander Zhao , who did not believe Zuko's false story, and invited Iroh and Zuko to tea until his subordinates interrogated the young Prince's crew, who had no idea about this act.

history

Despite Zuko's lies that he had gotten nothing on the Avatar, Zhao's soldiers confirmed that the

Avatar had caused the damage to the ship, and not an Earth Kingdom ship, as members of the Royal Family had said. Zhao announced that he would resume the search for the Avatar, and that he would let Zuko go once his fleet was at sea. Zuko could no longer tolerate the situation when Zhao told him that his father saw him as a failure, and challenged him to an Agni Kai. That afternoon, Zuko managed to defeat the commander, when Zhao wanted to attack Zuko, who was retreating victoriously, Iroh stopped him, declaring that even in banishment, his nephew was more honorable than the commander.

Zuko followed Aang around the world, until he found him on Kyoshi Island , where they had a battle in which Zuko began to burn the town. Finally, as Aang escaped, Aang mounted the unagi and put out the fire, getting Zuko wet as well.

Some time later, Zuko arrived at the prison platform after a group of Earthbender inmates escaped, where he found Katara's necklace.

history

Days passed, and Iroh felt that he deserved a rest, he found a pond and jumped in, warming the water and relaxing. When Zuko arrived to warn him that they would be leaving shortly, Iroh told him that he would be ready in no time, but instead he fell asleep and was captured by Earthbenders. Seeing evidence of earthbending, Zuko assumed that his uncle had been captured, and followed the trail left by his uncle that included a smelly sandal until he found Iroh and his captors, who planned to damage his hands for life with a rock. Zuko went to his rescue, pushing the rock and freeing his uncle. They fought the Earthbenders together, until only one was left whom they defeated. Then Zuko asked his uncle to put some clothes on him.

Following the trail of a Senlin inhabitant , Zuko followed the Avatar to a Fire Nation blockade , which separated the waters of the Earth Kingdom from those of the Fire Nation. For Zuko, this posed a problem, because if he passed the blockade, he would find himself violating his banishment, and could be arrested, but he took the risk and passed, following the Avatar to the Fire Temple , where he momentarily captured the Avatar, until he escaped and entered in a room that was closed. When Zhao arrived he was captured and chained to a column, although he was later freed by Roku , and thus escaped not only Zhao, but also the Fire Nation.

history

When Iroh lost a piece in his Pai Sho game , Zuko ended up on a ship of pirates who were talking about a bald monk who had stolen some waterbending scrolls. Zuko allied with them to find the Avatar. Deducing that they had stolen a Waterbender scroll, they would be near the river. And so it was, they found Katara practicing at night and captured her. In exchange for the Avatar, he offered her necklace back, but she refused. Zuko kept the scroll, and told the pirates that he would give it to them in exchange for the monk, but when Aang and Sokka were brought to Zuko, Sokka revealed that Aang was the Avatar, and that the Fire Lord could give him much more. than a silly parchment. Upon finding out, the pirates broke the deal, and Zuko started a fight. Taking advantage of the distraction, Team Avatar took the pirates' ship and set sail, with the pirates taking Zuko's ship to follow them. After this, Zuko was on his ship arguing with Lieutenant Jee, who said that he was disrespectful for not listening to his uncle predicting a storm and for not caring about the safety of his crew, which caused Zuko to leave. his room, until during the storm that Iroh had predicted, lightning struck the ship's tower and he went to save the helmsman, who was hanging from a practically destroyed ladder. Seeing the Avatar in his bison, he decided it was best for them to get to safety first.

When Zhao was promoted to Admiral, he declared that he would use the Yuyan Archers to capture the Avatar, a situation which was observed by Zuko wearing a blue oni mask.

history

information about the Avatar, but Zuko told them that he had nothing, as he had lost track of Aang in the storm. Upon being captured, Zuko's fears were confirmed. If he wanted to bring the Avatar to his father, he must enter the Pohuai Fortress , free the Avatar and keep him captive with him. To do so, he infiltrated, neutralized the guards guarding Aang's cell without using his firebending, and freed Aang from his restraints. Unfortunately, when it was learned that the Avatar had escaped, all the fortress guards were on Aang and the Blue Spirit. Together with Zuko, Aang tried his best to escape, until the main doors closed, and when Zhao said that they needed the Avatar alive, Zuko took the opportunity and trapped Aang's neck between his swords, forcing Zhao to let them go.

When they were about to reach the line of the forest, Zuko was felled by an arrow that left him unconscious, and despite Aang's initial shock when he realized that Zuko was the one who had freed him, he saved him and took him to a safe part of the forest. Upon awakening, Aang asked him if they could have been friends, to which Zuko responded with a fire attack that caused Aang to escape. One morning, while in a port, a young woman rode a giant animal, who tore off part of the metal from the deck and trapped a stowaway. Zuko hired her to find Katara using her necklace, thus finding Aang by default. But to her misfortune, Aang was not with her or her brother, and when she captured them, they followed Aang's trail to an abbey, where Zuko began a very even duel with Aang, where she recovered the necklace of the friend of hers. The fight ended when the shirshu paralyzed Zuko and her owner.

history

While Zuko rested on his ship, Iroh informed him that Zhao had recruited his crew for a large-scale military operation , which left Zuko very angry. Iroh went for a walk, and while Zuko was sleeping, he heard the sound of a door opening, and when he went up to the command center, he heard an explosion that destroyed his ship, but not Zuko, who managed to protect himself using his firebending. .

Hatching a plan with Iroh, Zuko infiltrated a ship as a Firebender soldier, while Iroh acted as Zhao's war advisor, and when they approached the Northern Water Tribe , Zuko left the ship and entered a cave. and later arrived at the city and the Spirit Oasis , where Aang meditated in the Avatar State. He started a fight with Katara, who had become an expert Master, but was finally defeated when the sun rose. Taking advantage of Katara's fainting, Zuko took Aang's body and took him to the tundra, where a storm drove him to hide in a cave.

history

Upon leaving the Spirit World , Aang's spirit reunited with his body and he awakened. He tried to escape, but was tied up, and luckily for Aang, his friends had arrived, and Katara quickly defeated Zuko. Despite Sokka's denials, Aang took Zuko to Appa and took him to the Oasis, where he took advantage of Tui 's death to free himself and escape.

As Zhao ran to escape, Zuko stopped him, and they began a brutal fight, which lasted until La grabbed Zhao, and despite Zuko's attempts to help them, he ultimately repulsed them, disappearing into the icy water.

Zuko managed to escape with his uncle on a precarious raft, where he declared that he needed time to rest.

history

After drifting for months, Zuko and Iroh began living alone in the Earth Kingdom . There Azula found them and offered them to return to the Fire Nation. She made them believe that her father Ozai wanted them back because he needed her family, and although Iroh disagreed with Azula's words, he decided to accompany Zuko, foreseeing a trap. Zuko was very eager to return, but after the ship's captain referred to them as prisoners, they quickly overpowered the crew and escaped.

They both realized that they were now fugitives from the Fire Nation, so they could no longer visit their colonies in the Earth Kingdom, and cut their knot, representing the end of their servitude to the Fire Nation.

While they were traveling Iroh came across a plant that turned out to be very poisonous, and met a young herbalist named Song , who offered them shelter for the night. After a hearty dinner, Iroh and Zuko left the house, but Zuko took with him an ostrich horse belonging to the family.

Zuko hated the life they were living, and slowly began to rely on theft to survive. When his uncle talks to him about the subject, she invites him to reflect on his future, and after doing so, Zuko declares that after much thought, he no longer saw reasons to continue traveling with him, leaving Iroh to deal with it. of the.

Zuko wandered through remote and abandoned places in the Earth Kingdom, and although he was starving, he did not steal food from a couple who were expecting a child.

history

He arrived at a small village where some Earth Kingdom soldiers took away some of the food he had bought, and gained the sympathy of a young boy for not revealing that he had been guilty of throwing an egg at one of the soldiers. In gratitude, Lee invited him to eat at his house and offer him lodging. Zuko helped the family members with some tasks and chores, and during the night, he taught Lee, who had taken his dual swords from him, how to use them properly. When it was time to leave, Zuko gave the boy a dagger that had an inscription that said, "never give up without a fight." A few hours later, Sela , Lee's mother, asked Zuko for help, since her husband had gone to look for her eldest son and Lee had been captured by soldiers when he threatened them with a dagger. He decided to help the young man, and started a duel against the abusive soldiers. Despite an initial victory, the group's Earthbender abilities were too much for the weary Zuko to face without his powers, and he ended up revealing that he was a Firebender. When he defeated the soldiers, Lee's mother prevented Zuko from speaking to her son, and Lee rejected him.

Zuko came across the trail of Azula's tank train , and followed it in order to find the Avatar again. Eventually, he found him and Azula in an abandoned village and began a duel against both of them. When the different members of Team Avatar began to arrive besides Iroh, Azula found herself in a difficult situation, since she was at a disadvantage. Taking advantage of a distraction from Iroh, Azula attacked him and managed to escape. And when Katara offered to help him, Zuko drove them away, leaving him alone with his wounded uncle.

history

When Iroh awakened, he agreed that Zuko needed to learn more advanced techniques, and instructed Zuko in the nature of lightning generation . Zuko's attempts failed and so Iroh decided to teach him another technique, lightning redirection , a technique he had invented by observing the waterbenders. Once he mastered the moves, Zuko wanted to try it, but Iroh refused to throw lightning at him, and he went in search of one of his own to the top of a mountain during a storm. Despite his desire to try the technique, no lightning struck him.

Iroh and Zuko traveled to an oasis in a desert, where they found an old acquaintance of Iroh's who saved them from being trapped by Yu and Xin Fu . He belonged to a secret society that provided fugitives with the necessary documents to enter the Earth Kingdom's capital city, Ba Sing Se, as refugees .

On a boat that would take them to the entrance to the city, Zuko met Jet and two of his friends, with whom he helped feed the entire ship by stealing the food that the captain reserved for himself.

Upon arriving at the station, Zuko noticed that Iroh had heated his tea with his powers, and he feared that someone might have noticed. Unfortunately for him, Jet had seen that Iroh's tea was hot, and decided to expose them as Firebenders.

While Zuko was in Ba Sing Se, he felt imprisoned and that he was not living the life that destiny had in store for him, he was living serving tea in a shop in the Lower Ring, and Jet was after him to expose him and his uncle as Firebenders. When Jet lost patience and did not want to wait any longer for someone to reveal his abilities, he entered the tea shop very loudly and violently, declaring that both Iroh and Zuko were Firebenders. Faced with Iroh's refusal, Jet took out his hook swords and began a fierce sword duel with Zuko, who defended himself with great skill. Jet kept tempting Zuko to use firebending on him, but he wouldn't fall into his trap.

history

Jet kept tempting Zuko to use firebending on him, but he wouldn't fall into his trap. The fight reached such a point that some Dai Li agents intervened. They, upon hearing the clients' statements that Jet had started the conflict without provocation, took the Liberator away and the duel ended without Zuko exposing himself. During his stay in the Earth Kingdom, Zuko met Jin , a young teenager from the Under Ring, with whom he went on a date. After they finished eating, she invited him for a walk and took him to her favorite place in the entire city, a fountain with candles that produced a beautiful effect when reflected with the water. But when he arrived, all the candles were out. Jin didn't understand why the candles were like this, since they were usually lit. Zuko then told him to close his eyes, and just as he closed his eyes, Zuko used his firebending to light the candles, giving Jin a surprise. When they were watching the scene, Jin wanted to kiss Zuko, and although he tried to avoid it, she ended up kissing him back and then walked away from her.

As time passed, the popularity of the tea shop increased, until one day, a businessman in the city offered Iroh the chance to open his own tea shop in the Upper Ring of the capital city of the Earth Kingdom. .

history

Shortly afterward, Zuko learned that not only was the Avatar in town, but he had also lost his bison. Aiming to find Appa before the Avatar, Zuko trapped a Dai Li agent and obtained information on the bison's whereabouts, Lake Laogai . He infiltrated using his alter ego as the Blue Spirit, and found the bison, but before he could do anything, Iroh confronted him, stating that he never thought what he did and that the destiny he thought he wanted had been given to him. imposed by another. Finally, Zuko listens to his uncle, frees Appa and they escape from Lake Laogai without being seen.

During the next few days, Zuko came into conflict with himself; he had a rare illness that his uncle said was caused by the actions he had performed at the lake, and that once it was over, Zuko would be a new person. During this time, he had a series of hallucinations and dreams that included dragons, tattoos, and his mother.

After his illness, Zuko was more optimistic, he saw his life in Ba Sing Se well and was happy for his uncle, who had received an invitation from the Earth King himself to be served tea. Once at the Palace, the Dai Li surrounded them, and Azula introduced herself. Even though he could have escaped like his uncle did, Zuko decided to stay and confront Azula, but was caught by the agents at his place and taken to a prison where Katara was also held.

history

She began to berate him for wanting to ruin the world's only hope, and when she mentioned that the war had taken her mother away from her, Zuko said that they were something they had in common. She then began to listen to him, and at one point, Katara reveals that she could try to heal her scar, but the moment is interrupted when Iroh and Aang enter the cave. Iroh told Katara and Aang to go help his friends and they are both alone.

Before they could speak, Iroh was captured by the Dai Li; and Zuko, manipulated by Azula with promises of redemption, leaves him to think alone. Eventually, Zuko decides that his father's love is more important and he joins a battle that was taking place between Azula, and Aang and Katara. Despite having the advantage, the fight took a turn when the Dai Li intervened and Aang decided to lock himself in a crystal tent. There he unlocks the Avatar State, but is seriously injured by a bolt of lightning fired by Azula. The battle ends when Katara, helped by Iroh, manages to escape with Aang in her arms. Azula then congratulated Zuko and told him that she had regained her honor. In any case, Zuko suffers from an intense internal conflict: on the one hand, he finally believes he has recovered the status that corresponds to him in his nation and in his family, but on the other, he has betrayed his uncle.

Zuko and Azula returned home as war heroes, and Ozai personally congratulated Zuko for becoming a powerful warrior and staying loyal to his Nation, as well as slaying the Avatar. Upon learning this, he went to talk to Azula, who stated that she had given him credit for killing the Avatar so that Zuko would be considered a hero, and to place the responsibility for the Avatar's death on Zuko. Having no one close to him to turn to, Zuko visited Iroh, who was in prison, and asked for help as he was confused, but Iroh refused to talk to him. Realizing that he was in a dangerous situation since there was a possibility that the Avatar was alive, not knowing what to do, Zuko went in search of an assassin to find and kill Aang. During a trip to Ember Island, Zuko had problems with his relationship with Mai, who considered him impulsive and jealous, and later, reunited with Mai, Ty Lee, and Azula at a beach bonfire, Zuko admitted that he was angry with himself. for not knowing what to do. Back at his house, Zuko received a note from Iroh, encouraging him to visit the grave of his great-grandfather Sozin, and for him to learn about his death. After reading the will, Zuko went to visit Iroh, declaring that the story he had read was the same one everyone knew. Iroh then confessed that he had also read of the death of his other great-grandfather, since Roku was Ursa's grandfather, and that by understanding the fight between Sozin and Roku, he would understand his own internal struggle. And according to Iroh, his destiny is to help restore balance to the world and end the war. He takes Iroh's advice, and realizes that he can never be the son his father wanted him to be and that the war must come to an end.

history

During the Day of the Black Sun , he left Mai a scroll that expressed his sense of guilt for leaving her. After confronting his father, telling her how he felt about Ozai's treatment of him and also about the war, he explained his intentions to free Iroh and join the Avatar. When he was about to leave, Ozai decides to tell him the fate of her mother, making Zuko stop to listen. After learning that she was expelled from the Fire Nation, as opposed to having died as Zuko believed, he is attacked by Ozai with lightning just as the eclipse was ending, but Zuko successfully redirected it and escaped. Upon arriving at the prison, Zuko saw that Iroh had already escaped at his expense. And once Team Avatar escapes on Appa after the invasion fails, Zuko follows them in a hot air balloon. At the Western Air Temple he tried to join the group to teach Aang firebending and they rejected him for obvious reasons. He tried to offer himself as a prisoner, but was also rejected. That night, while he was sleeping, Zuko heard something in the forest, and acting impulsively, he released a blast of fire that burned the feet of Toph, who had gone to talk. Toph crawled away and threw rocks at Zuko, who tried to apologize for his actions. When Toph was lost in the trees, Zuko screamed in frustration.

history

The next morning, Zuko watched as Combustion Man attacked Team Avatar, and wanted to stop him, stating that he would not pay him if he continued, which the assassin did not listen to. He managed to divert the assassin's attention long enough for Team Avatar to attack him, which eventually led to his death. Having seen this, the Team deliberated, and decided to accept Zuko, but as he was settling into a room, Katara informed him that if he ever noticed any hesitation or a hint of betrayal, he would not have to worry about his future, because she would make sure I didn't have one.

When Zuko began training Aang, he realized that his firebending was much weaker, and that he would not be able to instruct Aang. Following Toph's advice, Zuko traveled with Aang to the Ancient City of the Sun Warriors to attempt to find the original source of firebending, as the Fire Nation had warped its source and placed anger as its focus. After performing a series of steps in a secret chamber, Zuko took a kind of golden egg, and upon separating it from the base of it, it began to fill the chamber with a paste.

to sticky, in which he was trapped with Aang. To his surprise, the Warriors of the Sun were not extinct as believed, but had gone into hiding. They held the secret of the true source of Firebending, and agreed to be tested by their masters after carrying some of the Eternal Flame before them across a valley.

history

Aang's flame went out when he felt afraid, and he tried to take some of Zuko's when he noticed that his was gone. He refused, and when Aang insisted, he extinguished Zuko's flame as well. When the masters emerged from the caves and revealed themselves to be the last living dragons, Aang asked Zuko to dance the steps they had learned, and as they did so, the dragons judged them well, engulfing them in flames of different colors. Both Aang and Zuko learned the origin of firebending, and both were able to use it to great effect. At some point, Zuko had time to fight Sokka in a sword duel, and although Zuko won, Sokka ended up winning by using his boomerang .

While spending time at the Western Air Temple, Sokka approached Zuko asking about the fate of the prisoners of war. Zuko told him that many were being taken to the Boiling Rock , and fearing that Sokka would want to go on his own, he stayed at Appa until he appeared at night, and suggested that they use his hot air balloon. Once they arrived, they dressed as guards and began searching for Hakoda, but instead found Suki , Sokka's girlfriend. They thought of an escape plan, for which they needed someone to enter a freezer and loosen the screws, and the chosen one was Zuko. He faked a fight with another inmate who was involved in the plan, and by using firebending he was taken to a freezer. Sokka freed him afterwards, but they overheard a conversation about new prisoners. Fearing that Hakoda might be among them, Sokka decided to stay, along with Zuko and Suki, but Chit Sang had no plans to do so, and climbed into the freezer.

history

Fortunately, Sokka's father was among the new inmates, so his decision to stay had been the right one. But soon after, Zuko was identified as a stowaway and imprisoned. There, the Warden revealed himself to be Mai's uncle, and soon, her niece arrived at the prison to confront her ex-boyfriend. When a riot broke out, Zuko escaped and locked Mai in a cell to keep her safe. He led the group to the gondola and stopped the guards' attacks. But when they were traveling they were attacked by Azula and Ty Lee. Zuko confronted his sister along with Sokka, until the guards began to cut the line. To his surprise, Mai had escaped, and stopped the guards, allowing the group to escape the island.

A few days after returning to the Temple, it was attacked by Azula with a fleet of airships. Zuko fought her on an airship, and when her attack collided, they both began to fall into the void. Zuko was saved by Team Avatar riding Appa, and Azula clung to the cliff. For Zuko, the fact that Katara distrusted him and so openly showed her displeasure in accepting him into the group frustrated him greatly. He didn't know what to do to get Katara to forgive him and he turned to Sokka for help, asking him about the day his mother had died. Sokka told her the story, and told her that the force that had killed her mother was known as the Southern Invaders . Then, he decided to talk to Katara, but the Waterbender remained firm in her decision not to trust him, although after mentioning that she knew the person who had murdered her mother and offering him revenge, she agrees to travel with him. Zuko traveled with her and discovered the location of the Southern Invaders, and upon arriving at her ship, they discovered that Yon Rha , the assassin, had retreated from her. Once Katara confronted him, Katara realizes that he had focused his hatred on Zuko, since he was the person he directed his hatred at. Upon arriving at the camp, Katara reveals that she could never forgive the murderer of his mother
