Polnareff is a man of above-average height and muscular build.

With a receded hairline, he wears silvery hair in a tall flat top. He has no eyebrows. He also wears earrings in the shape of jaggedly halved (broken) hearts.

Polnareff wears a fitted black tube top, shoulder-less except for one strap running from his chest over his left shoulder. He also wears a pair of light trousers with pouches tied to the belt on each of his hips.

Jean Pierre Polnareff is a boastful but honorable and well-meaning Frenchman.

The most distinctive feature of Polnareff is his honor. In his first appearance, he deliberately puts himself at a disadvantage by explaining his abilities and fights his opponent Avdol in an area more suitable for the latter.Polnareff's honor is such that even under DIO's control, he refuses to do anything as dishonorable as attacking someone from the backstory.Adhering to a chivalrous mindset, Polnareff is reluctant to run away from a fight or use dishonest tactics, although he can be persuaded if the opponent is someone he deeply hates. Polnareff also really wants to avenge his dead loved ones, for example, traveling the world in search of the man responsible for the murder of his sister Sherry. Polnareff is well-intentioned and will also sacrifice a potential romance so that his enemies do not harm an innocent woman.

Polnareff gives the impression of being arrogant, confrontational and can be quite impulsive. He is very proud of his Silver Chariot, and for good reason, as he has trained hard with it, but his overconfidence unfortunately means that he is ill-suited to deal with cowardly Stand users in his way, as he does not expect their moves and puts him in a number of disadvantageous positions. It is difficult for Polnareff to see his own shortcomings, and he considers himself better than he really is, for example, one day he noticed that he inadvertently threw a lit cigarette butt on the ground, a cigarette that he threw, and which caused a fire. During his journey, Polnareff often quarrels with his companions or conflicts with different people he meets. He also initially had a bad opinion of Avdol, as he ran away from DIO instead of fighting, and quarreled, which is why he broke off relations with him. Polnareff is also the least serious member of the group. Perhaps he is most attached to his comrades, casually joking with Kakein, Joseph, and even with Jotaro. Being very extroverted, he has no problem expressing joy or sadness, so he is the most compassionate in the group, being the one who openly mourns his comrades. This trait prompted the other members of the third Joestar group not to tell him about Avdol's recovery, as they were afraid that he would give away a secret. Polnareff fancies himself a ladies' man. This is partly due to a slight narcissism, he often considers himself a handsome man and is especially proud of his hair. A woman's attractive appearance is always enough to distract him from even the most serious topics, which led to Joseph's comment that Polnareff thinks with a crotch.
