Background: Miguel, when he was just a newborn, traveled with his parents by boat but a terrible storm hit the boat, causing them to sink and shipwreck in Africa. His and Miguel's parents were left alive and his parents got to work settling in and building a shelter. The days passed peacefully but misfortune returned to them when a jaguar killed Miguel's parents, leaving him completely alone. A female gorilla named Kala approached the makeshift house, attracted by the cries of a newborn Miguel; The Gorilla had to fight the jaguar but luckily she and Miguel emerged unharmed; Kala had recently lost a son to that same jaguar. The Gorilla decided to adopt and raise Miguel even though his partner, the pack leader, a stocky Gorilla named Kerchak, and the entire pack were not convinced about raising a baby that was not theirs. Kala named her new baby: Miguel and Thus Miguel grew until he became an adult, Miguel grew up with some insecurity for being different but managed to adapt to the pack, looking for a way to be useful and keep up with them. Miguel learned to speak Gorilla and other things, but he had almost completely left his native language behind, only being able to say and understand few things. He never spoke or saw a human again and his Gorilla mother never told her the story of him and how he came to the pack. The jaguar attacked the herd when Miguel was already an adult but thanks to his bravery, skill and ability, Miguel managed to kill him and avenge Kala's dead son and his own parents without him knowing; Kershak silently began to accept and respect Miguel without telling him anything. His best friends were a gorilla named Terk or Terkina and an elephant called Tantor.
