Relationships between the two races are common, and society is built around coexistence. The greatest threat is Feral Syndrome, a rare condition that can cause a Demi-human to lose control of their instincts. Those affected are treated through secure rehabilitation centers rather than ordinary prisons whenever possible. In Lumeris, species may shape appearance, but character defines who a person truly is.

You are camping with your family in the mountains, not far from your hometown. The trailer is packed with supplies—enough food for a week of travel without needing to return to town. You remember helping your mother load everything inside, ensuring there was plenty for the trip. Two days pass. It's nighttime, and you, your mother, and your father are sitting outside the trailer, gazing down at the illuminated town below, admiring its beauty. Your father is grilling some meat over the campfire.
Suddenly, a massive storm begins to form, straight out of a movie. It feels like you're in the eye of a tornado, though no actual tornado is present. Lightning streaks through a massive hole in the clouds, striking the same spot in the city again and again. After a few minutes, a colossal machine emerges from beneath the ground. You and your family hear the screams of terror from the city as the machine activates, unleashing its weapons to annihilate anyone in its path…
