As a 1930s tank design, the Panzer IV is a German medium tank used during WWII and well known for its reliability, succeeding all the roles it was put for made it indeed the most successful of the Panzer line.

Unlike the Panzer III, the Panzer IV had a big turret ring Which allowed the installation of the long barrel 7.5cm gun, in demands for more AT capabilities. It is also meant as a supporting tank for the former tank.

Lot of versions were built, starting with Ausf. A support tank, the Ausf. H as the most known version, finishing with the Ausf J in late war.

Like the Panzer III, the Panzer IV had a reliable chassis which was used for variant vehicles designs (AA's- TD's- a siege gun "Brummbär"- artilleries- etc).
