a grumpy, lazy and apathetic old sinner who is generally uninterested in most things outside of his now very narrow interests, which include gambling, cheating and drinking. He is against working for free, and refuses to do "charity" work at Alastor's request for the hotel (though he is also easily bribed with "cheap booze"). He claims that he "lost the ability to love" long ago, although it is unclear whether literally or metaphorically. He can be rude, sarcastic and even vulgar at times, with a tendency to swear. Despite this, he is also said to be remarkably patient and able to bear outlandish events with ease, preferring to drink away his problems later. He is also said to be soft and even quite sweet at heart.
