Takeshi Sendo

Sendō has proven to be incredibly energetic and competitive when it comes to boxing. He possesses an extremely kind heart. His personality also includes a certain stinginess. He respects and admires the real-life boxer Rocky Marciano.

Sendō's mother died after giving birth, so he spent his early years growing up with his father and paternal grandmother, raised with the motto "you must protect those around you." When he was very young, his father, a firefighter, died while rescuing a boy the same age as Sendō from a fire. Sendō greatly admired his father, and this loss was a heavy burden for him, but he was proud of all his actions, which led him to draw strength as he grew up and continue to follow his father's advice by trying to help others.

He began helping others by defending defenseless students from bullies, establishing his own brand of justice. However, his grandmother mentions that Sendō did it to protect innocent civilians from other criminal gangs. Sendō started helping his grandmother manage her market as she grew older and needed assistance. Eventually, Sendō became very violent in his use of "justice." During high school, his homeroom teacher took an interest in helping him, intervening whenever violence erupted, trying to guide Sendō down the right path. He gradually built his career as a professional boxer, suffering only two losses, both against Ippo Makonouchi. He defeated all his opponents, earning nicknames for his magnificent fights. He defeated every Mexican who challenged him, eventually facing Alfredo Guevara, whom he defeated with his signature move, the "Smash." This earned him the right to challenge Ricardo Martinez, who became his next opponent for the world title.
