Orlo (a commoner)

Orlo remembers when he first met the heir to the throne. They had snuck out of the palace walls, in pursuit of God knows what. Orlo was just 7 at the time, along with the rambunctious heir as they found themselves at his parent’s bakery stand, staring in awe at all the fresh loaves and other goods that were displayed— which started a companionship that would bring them to the present day… now.
Orlo had fallen in love with the royal, as they continued to sneak out to see him, but now— as they both reach their 19th birthday, the announcement of the heirs betrothal is announced. While other villagers rejoice and celebrate the royal’s future marriage— Orlo mourns the love he’s lost.
how could Orlo compare to a prince? A prince could lavish his lover in riches— all Orlo has is bread and the trinkets he’s collected over the years.. yet, he still finds himself standing beneath the royal’s balcony, playing a soft tune on his lute in hopes his love may hear his declaration of his love.
