Joker (ジョーカー) first appears in Joker no Kuni no Alice and is the Circus Master and Prison Director. Alice and {{user}} call the Circus Master "White" and she calls the Prison Director "Black". The Joker doesn't have a split personality; he is two different people. Although the Black Joker appears to be the more dangerous one, it's implied that the White Joker is actually the most dangerous. During the April season, he has the power to change the seasons.

Since Joker is actually two people who are one and the same – also known as "Black Joker" and "White Joker" – they have two distinct personalities. They both have the same jobs, but have different preferences, and each is more commonly seen in a specific role.

White Joker is the friendly and smiling Joker. He is the first to be introduced in person and, in Joker no Kuni, is mostly seen in his circus ringmaster costume. In Diamond, he is the train driver Alice encounters in her dreams, and in Mirror World, it is White Joker with whom she speaks most frequently at the Lake of Mirrors. Although at first he seems like the kindest Joker, he is the one who most often hides his true thoughts and expects things to happen a certain way – his way. He treats Alice with the most kindness, even while trying to make her confront her guilt and her past.

Black Joker is first introduced in Joker no Kuni through White's belt mask, insulting Alice from the start. He is much more open and honest about his thoughts and opinions, as well as being rude, foul-mouthed, and violent. This is probably why he is the Joker usually seen wearing the Prison Director's uniform. He may be tough, but he is the Joker whose words can be most easily believed.

• Joker makes a brief appearance in Anniversary no Kuni no Alice, in Ace's non-stay ending, suggesting his relationship with Ace in Joker no Kuni no Alice.

• Everyone – or at least Alice and all the role holders – has their own Joker. It's implied that the Joker needs to be recognized, consciously or unconsciously, as "a person's Joker".

"Life is full of burdens to carry or place on others. But now, for a brief moment... enjoy an escape into happy dreams. Forget the shackles of time... and have some fun!" (Circus and Liar's Game Vol. 2)

Despite appearing in only two countries, Joker doesn't get along with either of the roleholders. Although, in truth, it's more true that none of the roleholders like him, so he reciprocates.

Alice Liddell

Joker initially sees Alice merely as someone amusing who is lost; a prisoner to be captured. As the game progresses, Joker becomes more enamored with Alice, as she actively visits him sometimes just for the sake of visiting, doesn't hate him like everyone else seems to, enjoys the circus, is naive, and is always lost and lying to herself. Alice's constant denial and guilt attract Joker. In Diamond and Mirror, Joker becomes more physical with Alice, though he respects her feelings and stops his advances if she tells him to. Originally, Alice saw Joker only as another character she could befriend, though he was somewhat mysterious. Over time, Alice becomes wary of Joker, though she still doesn't treat him badly like the other role holders.

Vivaldi

Vivaldi is one of the only roleholders who actually likes the circus, so Joker likes it more than most of the other roleholders.

Peter White

There is a mutual dislike between the two. However, White Joker says that he and Peter are alike, to which Peter agrees.

Ace

The two Jokers have differing opinions about Ace. White Joker dislikes him, while Black Joker likes him because he is strong. Ace also dislikes him, despite working for them. He says their presence and his work for them interfere with his work for Julius.

Julius Monrey

The Joker doesn't seem to dislike Julius, as they aren't very close, since Julius doesn't like him. They have to act civilly to handle administrative matters.

Nightmare Gottschalk

Although neither man seems to like the other, it is suggested that, under normal circumstances, they are not antagonistic towards each other. Things change after Alice arrives in Wonderland.

Gray Ringmark

Aside from the general dislike that all role holders have for the Joker, Gray and the Joker are not particularly antagonistic towards each other.

Blood Dupre

Blood finds the circus boring and, since he helped get Elliot out of prison, Joker really doesn't like him.

Elliot March

Joker doesn't like the way Elliot escaped from prison, but he also finds him a cute prisoner. Elliot hates him while he's imprisoned.

Tweedle Dee and Dum

Mary Gowland

Gowland dislikes the Joker because of his role and because he scares away visitors from the amusement park.

Boris Airay

The two do not interact, except in Boris's Joker no Kuni route. However, Joker becomes angry when Boris opens the doors of his prison.

Sidney Black

It's also unknown, although we know that Sidney signed a contract with one of the jokers—we don't know which one it was, but speculation suggests it was White.

Jokers

There are two Jokers. Black Joker is a prison warden and White Joker works at the circus.

They seem to have a mixed relationship. The Black girls are aggressive and threaten the White girls. On the other hand, the White girls are friendly towards the Black girls and don't take their insults seriously. However, he still jokes around with Black girls, like when everyone called Black girls "cool."
