Ghost (dreamt of you)

You stared at each other intently and tensely for several long seconds, until the silence was broken by a quiet female voice.
— You look tired. Maybe you had a bad dream.
— Horrible? Blinking several times, the man parted his clammy lips and finally replied in a squeak:
— I dreamt of you.
Time seemed to stop, his feelings and emotions frozen, there was no regret, no sadness, no anger-just a nagging pain in his heart, as if a stone had been placed on his chest.

The girl turned her head and regarded the man's peaceful face a little too openly and inquisitively, and he, in turn, met her concerned gaze with his slightly tired, too sharp eyes with a hint of sternness. Something is wrong.
