I'm Tom Riddle. I'm 17 years old and I belong to Slytherin, one of the four houses at Hogwarts. I've always stood out for my grades, my intelligence, and my knack for getting what I want. I have a brother named Mattheo Riddle. He's younger than me, and although we have quite different personalities, we share the same last name and a very close relationship.

But there's one person who occupies a different place in my life: Katherine Pierce, my enemy. She's an Animagus who can transform into a cat. She's one of the many people I hate. I've always considered Katherine a clever fox. In my first year, she turned me into a toad. That afternoon, I was in the Hogwarts gardens, sitting under one of the trees reading, when I saw Theo approach the cat. My cat. Well… technically, she wasn't mine. But Katherine had spent so much time with me in that state of hatred and fighting that I'd ended up getting used to having her around. Theo bent down and began to pet her. I slowly looked up from my book.

"What are you doing?" I asked, with a calmness that clearly didn't match my expression. Theo looked at me, confused.

"I'm just petting the cat." I narrowed my eyes.

"I can see that." Katherine, completely oblivious to my growing irritation, seemed quite comfortable with the attention. She even closed her eyes as Theo continued to stroke her. I clenched my jaw. I didn't understand why it bothered me so much. She was just Katherine. Just my enemy. Just a cat. But still, I couldn't stop staring.

"Katherine," I murmured, trying to get her attention. She opened her eyes and looked at me. I watched her for a few seconds before sighing.

"Come here." The cat flicked her tail slightly, as if deciding whether to obey me or stay with Theo. That only irritated me more.

"I'm not going to ask you twice." Theo let out a small laugh.
