The demons in Demon Slayer are anthropomorphic man-eating creatures who were once human beings, but who lost their humanity after being corrupted by the blood of Muzan Kibutsuji, the first demon and its absolute creator.

Their existence is governed by very specific physical, biological and supernatural characteristics:

Immortality and Regeneration: They possess monstrous physical strength and can heal from any wound in seconds. If you cut off an arm, a leg, or even their head with a normal weapon, they will regenerate almost instantly.

Deadly Weakness: They can only be destroyed in two ways: by exposing them directly to sunlight (which completely disintegrates them) or by decapitating them with a Nichirin (sword of the sun), a katana forged from a special mineral that absorbs sunlight.

Demonic Blood Techniques (Kekkijutsu): As they consume more human flesh and blood, their power increases and they develop unique magical and supernatural abilities (creating ice, manipulating blood, summoning illusions, controlling gravity, etc.).

The Hierarchy (Demon Moons): The strongest and most loyal demons to Muzan are divided into two ranks: the Six Lower Moons and the Six Upper Moons. The Superiors have not changed members in more than a century and have massacred dozens of Hashira over the years.

Loss of Memory and Identity: Upon transformation, the vast majority forget their human past, their real names, and their positive emotions, being reduced to wild instincts dominated by the voracious hunger for human flesh and the absolute fear of Muzan's control over them through his blood.

Finca Mariposa: Shinobu Kocho's headquarters. A traditional Japanese residence of elegant architecture, surrounded by beautiful and tranquil gardens full of flowers and butterflies. It functions as a clandestine hospital and rehabilitation center for wounded hunters, as well as housing laboratories where poisons and the physiology of demons are studied.

Mount Natagumo Forest: A dense, dark, and gloomy natural environment, permanently shrouded in a thick mist and populated by a giant web of demon-controlled cobwebs. It's a claustrophobic scenario where sunlight barely penetrates and danger lurks in every tree.

Red Light District: A Taisho-era nightlife urban area filled with labyrinthine alleyways, teahouses, brothels, paper lantern lights, and deceptive facades. It's a bustling center of social life for humans during the day, but a lethal hunting ground for high-ranking demons at nightfall.

Headquarters of the Demon Extermination Corps: A complex hidden and protected by wisteria (the main weakness of demons) with an impeccable traditional Japanese aesthetic. It includes the hunters' training grounds, the offices of the organization's leader (Kagaya Ubuyashiki), and the Hashira's meeting yards.

Infinite Train: A gigantic moving steam locomotive that travels the railroad tracks at midnight. Its interior combines vintage passenger cars with dark corridors, becoming a dynamic and moving stage where passengers are trapped at the mercy of demonic illusions and attacks at full speed.

Infinity Castle: The secret base of operations of Muzan Kibutsuji and the Demon Moons. It's an architecturally chaotic and infinite supernatural dimension, composed of a disorienting network of traditional Japanese tatami rooms, sliding doors, and wooden stairs that float and change position with Nakime's biwa.

Paper School: The main educational institution. Visually monochromatic, it looks like a traditional school built with paper, notebooks, cardboard and ink, but inside it operates as a death trap. It has classrooms, infinite corridors decorated with lockers, teachers' offices, and dark and forbidden areas where Alice lives, characterized by the constant trail of ink and blood left by academic executions.

Fundamental Paper Education (or rather known as FPE), revolves around a suffocating institution where the education system is designed as a sadistic survival game. The overall aesthetic mimics the style of '90s cartoons or the internet, but with a deeply grotesque twist: everyone is literally made of paper, ink, and stationery, and classrooms become scenes of massacre at the slightest mistake.

Its key elements:

Paper School logic: There are no second chances or sympathetic boards of directors. If a student gets a failing grade (a zero or a low grade), teachers are instantly transformed into lethal enforcers. The ink-stained walls and traces of blood in the hallways are the constant reminder of who failed to pass the exam.

Faculty (Executioners): Lead teachers not only teach subjects, but personify the nightmare of any student. Miss Circle uses her arm turned into a giant compass to hunt her victims; Miss Bloomie has a sharp cutter instead of a hand; and Miss Thavel is just as relentless. Their authority is absolute and they operate under the premise that mistakes are paid for with life.

Students and Social Dynamics: Students are divided between those who live in terror trying to survive the day (like Claire or Abby), those who suffer from constant bullying, and groups of pranksters and troublemakers (like Oliver, Zip, and Edward) who find ways to outwit or ignore the deadly danger, often causing more problems than they solve.

Alice and the Entity of Horror: In the depths or hidden corners of the school lives Alice, a creature with an apparently childlike appearance but with a monstrous and distorted nature. He is the wild card of terror: even the teachers have a certain respect or fear of him, knowing that approaching him is a death sentence...

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) is a dark fantasy and action universe set in Japan during the Taisho era (1912-1926). Elite Corps (The Hashiras): The highest hierarchy of the Extermination Corps is composed of the nine most powerful and lethal swordsmen in service. Each masters their breathing style on an absolute level and represents the last line of defense against the Demon Moons, the inner circle of strongest demons under Muzan's direct command.

The Duality of Humanity and the Monster: The central conflict revolves around grief, loss, and family tragedy. Hunters often join the organization after losing their loved ones to demons, creating a gloomy, unforgiving atmosphere marked by imminent death.
