White Demon allows her to materialize a sword-wielding female ghost known as the Snow Demon, who only follows orders from a mobile phone she always carries with her, only listens to orders from someone else on the other line, and does not fulfill Kyōka's own wishes.

Although after joining the Armed Detective Agency, Fukuzawa Yukichi resolved this issue, allowing him to control and use his ability normally. In reality, Kyōka is not the original wielder of the Snow Demon; that honor belongs to her mother. PAST: One night, while Kyōka was playing, several assassins came to try and kill both her mother and father. While all the assassins were quickly killed by the couple, an unknown ability user who could manipulate the body through blood took control of Kyōka's first father. He used him to try to kill young Kyōka. While Kyōka's mother had killed him with Demon Snow before he could harm Kyōka, she too was soon manipulated.

Before her death, Kyōka's mother transferred her Demon Snow ability to Kyōka to protect her, using a technique she had learned from a user of abilities that could manipulate shadows. However, due to the suddenness of the attack, the ability transfer wasn't perfect, so Kyōka's cell phone, which her mother had given her days before her death, became an intermediary for controlling the ability.

Kyoka Izumi is the newest member of the Armed Detective Agency after defecting from the Port Mafia who has the Snow Demon ability.

Appearance
Kyōka is a short girl with dark blue hair tied in two low twin pigtails with flower pins and blue eyes, in which a notable feature of her, (like almost all members of Port Mafia), before, her eyes used to be very dull, but after meeting Atsushi Nakajima and being together with the Detective Agency, her eyes have become clearer.
She always wears a red kimono with a pattern that looks like buds, and her yellow Datejime is neatly tied. She wears long white socks and sandals; while in her arms, she appears to wear yellow and red wristbands. Kyōka carries a small rabbit doll, along with her cell phone attached to a necklace.

While with the Port Mafia, Kyōka's personality is doll-like. She lacks all emotions and is ruthless when ordered to carry out a duty. After being exposed to Atsushi Nakajima and the real world, Kyōka reverts to being a young teenager. She is easily captivated by small things and has a need to see everything. Like Atsushi, she believed she was worthless and deserved to die for her crimes. However, unlike Atsushi, once she joins the Armed Detective Agency, she doesn't dwell on her mistakes.

Kyoka is rather apathetic and strong-willed; she even says she wants to prove to Ryunosuke Akutagawa that she is more than just an assassin. Kyoka seems to care deeply for Atsushi. She shares a room with him and worries whenever he might be in danger. She is usually seen by his side most of the time, considering him an older brother, her friend, and someone to love.

Akiko Yosano

Personality:
Ranpo is extremely confident, egocentric, and proud of his intelligence. He can behave like a spoiled child when something doesn't interest him. He is lazy and enjoys sweets and having others acknowledge his intellectual superiority. However, his arrogance doesn't mean he's naive: he understands people very well and can be surprisingly perceptive.

Values ​​and principles:
She values ​​truth and solving mysteries above all else. She trusts her own ability to uncover the truth even when everyone else is wrong. She also has great faith in Fukuzawa, who was one of the first people to recognize her true abilities.

Yukichi Fukuzawa
Personality: Fukuzawa is serious, reserved, disciplined, and has a very controlled temperament. He rarely loses his temper and usually observes a situation before intervening. He may seem distant due to his stern expression and manner of speaking, but in reality, he is deeply protective of the Agency's members. He is a leader who allows his subordinates independence and trusts in their abilities.
She has a particularly important relationship with Ranpo: she was one of the first people able to understand that Ranpo's supposed "ability" was actually his extraordinary intelligence. Instead of treating him like a troubled child, she found a way to give him security and turn his talent into a strength.

Fukuzawa is a tall man who always has a stern expression on his face. He has long, silver hair that ends just above his shoulders. He has metallic blue eyes, which also appear to have wrinkles or dark circles beneath them.

He is always seen wearing a green yukata under a black haori (a traditional Japanese thigh-length kimono-style jacket, commonly worn by men) with gold trim in a zigzag pattern, and zōri (flat sandals) with white tabi (split-toe socks).

Past
As a young man, Fukuzawa trained at a government-run martial arts school. He was a close friend of Fukuchi during their martial arts training. They had a friendly rivalry and spent time together after Fukuzawa also took Ranpo in. Fukuzawa was one of the Goken, the five best swordsmen in the government. He worked as an assassin, tasked with killing war hawkish bureaucrats and leaders of foreign military parties who supported them toward the end of the Great War. He eventually earned the nickname Silver Wolf, as his skills were universally praised.

He resigned from this position after realizing he was beginning to desire killing his targets due to how simple and easy the assassinations were for him. He was reviled for this decision, but eventually laid down his sword permanently and became a lone wolf. He soon worked as a professional bodyguard for two types of jobs: contract work and one-off bodyguard assignments. During this time, he met Ranpo and helped him solve a case involving a murder at a theater. He ultimately lost his job shortly after he began protecting Ranpo. However, the two were in demand by various clients and became famous throughout Yokohama for their services.

The Armed Detective Agency is a skills user organization.

They are a group focused on solving crimes deemed too violent or difficult for the metropolitan police to handle. Often, these crimes are of supernatural origin. Nearly every detective in the company possesses their own special powers known as abilities. The agency also maintains numerous connections with government agencies and military personnel and handles a large amount of classified information due to the nature of its work.

Authorized personnel of the agency have authority similar to that of the police. Therefore, they are authorized to carry firearms and knives under certain conditions, and can even extract records from law enforcement organizations that allow them to commit unethical acts if they so choose, including interfering in law enforcement investigations, falsifying police information, and even wiretapping or secretly filming key facilities.

Admission
The agency has an entrance exam for new employees to assess whether they possess the qualities that make them worthy of joining. The test typically consists of an evaluation of their skills as a detective and their willingness to risk their lives to save people. To join the agency, the candidate must take a test that assesses their integrity, skill, wisdom, morality, and genuineness of spirit. The test supervisor observes the participant's actions and determines if they are a good fit for the agency.

The agency was founded over a decade ago by Yukichi Fukuzawa after his encounter with a certain ability user named Ranpo Edogawa

The city of Yokohama in Bungo Stray Dogs isn't just a setting; it functions almost as another character within the story. It's a modern, vibrant, and luminous city on the surface, but beneath that facade lies a constant web of violence, corruption, clandestine organizations, and supernatural conflicts. Everything in Yokohama conveys duality: beauty and decay, civilization and crime, humanity and monsters.

The story unfolds in a relatively contemporary version of Japan, similar to the mid-to-late 2000s and early 2010s. High-rise buildings, industrial ports, brightly lit shopping streets, and urban neighborhoods create a modern and bustling feel, though the overall atmosphere has a melancholic and slightly decadent tone that fits perfectly with the series' existential themes.

Yokohama is a huge port city, constantly bustling with cars, cargo ships, and electric trains. By day it resembles a sleek and functional metropolis:
glass offices; small cafes; streets full of students and workers; neon signs; modern shopping malls.

However, as soon as night falls, the atmosphere changes. Neon lights reflecting on the damp streets create an almost cinematic feel. The alleyways seem narrower. The noise from the port never completely disappears. There are areas where the presence of the mafia is felt even without being seen: men watching from street corners; silent bars; abandoned buildings used for illegal trafficking; black cars parked for too long.

The entire city seems to live with violence on a daily basis.

He possesses the Midwinter Memento ability (真冬のかたみ, Mafuyu no Katami), which grants him ferrokinesis, the ability to manipulate metal. This allows Tachihara to remotely control any metal object, primarily his Hunting Dogs sword and other weapons. His dexterity allows him to move a mannequin like a human, and all the weapons he controls float. Teruko has also mentioned that his ability is useful for stealing, altering information, and even assassinating, making him someone who was "born to be a spy."

As a hunting dog, Tachihara underwent intensive training and experimentation, making him physically stronger and more durable than the average human and skill user; however, unlike his fellow hunting dogs, he cannot withstand or counter strong attacks (e.g., jet planes), because he had a weaker version of strengthening surgery due to his spy status.

His rebellious side doesn't deny how much he values ​​orders, seeing them as the supreme system. Because of this, he tries to dissuade Higuchi from saving Akutagawa against Mori's orders, even suggesting an alternative plan that wouldn't disobey them. He maintains his composure when dragged shopping with Elise, and tolerates her putting bows in his hair. Despite the guards laughing at him, Tachihara doesn't lose his temper.

Despite his gruff exterior, Tachihara is capable of rational thought, though not in the heat of the moment within the Port Mafia. He can quickly recognize danger and is unnerved by the nonchalant reaction of Mori, Kōyō, and Chūya's meeting. Tachihara possesses a competent understanding of how to deal with the enemy, hinting at a much more cunning side to his true nature.

Beneath much of Tachihara's tough, punk exterior lies a deep sense of inadequacy and inferiority compared to his older brother, who was praised for being "perfect" while his family considered him inferior, even questioning why. These feelings led Tachihara to act out and live a life of crime and cruelty by joining gangs, but even after all this, he couldn't shake these negative emotions. His insecurity and desperation to escape his brother's shadow were so strong that Tachihara took the first "order" that would allow him to become someone "not like his brother or his opposite" and joined the Hunting Dogs to infiltrate the Mafia to get revenge on Yosano for "killing" his brother, even though he knew and acknowledged that it was all just an excuse to soothe his own negative feelings.

He is the fifth and final member of the Hunting Dogs special units operating undercover as a Port Mafia mobster and leader of the Black Lizard battalion.

Appearance
He has a cast on the bridge of his nose. His natural hair color is black. Tachihara is a slightly imposing young man with short, spiky hair dyed rust-red and amber eyes.

His usual attire consists of a loose-fitting, long-sleeved, V-neck white shirt with black trim and the left sleeve rolled up to conceal it. This shirt is partially covered by a short, military-green jacket with beige fur trim. Underneath, he wears a holster for his dual pistols. He also wears dark blue trousers, brown boots, and a black wristband on his left wrist.

As a member of the hunting dogs, he is seen wearing the standard hunting dogs coat and cap, along with his usual long-sleeved shirt, trousers, and his late brother's name tag.

On the surface, Tachihara is an arrogant, impulsive, and reckless individual, more inclined to solve problems through brute force and his dual weapons. A violent temper leads to frequent conflicts between him and other mafiosi, namely Gin, whom Tachihara finds creepy and frequently insults, leading to arguments, and Hirotsu, who often quells Tachihara's temper by threatening him. Tachihara's self-preservation leads him to obey Hirotsu in the end, albeit reluctantly.

He rarely considers the weight of a mission over the urgency of eliminating his targets. He shows no hesitation or remorse in killing. An apparent thirst for battle and arrogance fuels Tachihara's temperament; in fact, he sometimes urges the elimination of a troublesome person if he finds their baggage worth more than they are worth.

Tachihara, a proud man, hates being underestimated and looked down upon. This is a surefire way to get shot.

Teruko's ability, Soul Gasp, allows her to manipulate the age of anyone she touches. Teruko herself primarily uses this ability for interrogation and torture, enabling her to rapidly age someone into old age and cause them to develop various illnesses and ailments common in the elderly. She then quickly reverts them to a much younger age, placing severe psychological strain on her victims' senses and damaging them mentally due to the speed with which she alters their age before they can acclimate to the new sensations and feelings of their rapid body swap. This makes her ability ideal for interrogation, even though it doesn't actually "harm" her victims.

Appearance
Teruko appears as a short, young girl wearing the standard Hunting Dogs uniform, though her hat has enough room for her hair. Her hair is light-colored, long, styled in a wavy ponytail, and tied with what appears to be a large ribbon. As befits a Hunting Dog, she carries a sword at her side.

Teruko is intense and boastful. She revels in her power and her role among the Hunting Dogs; she has a remarkably short fuse and easily intimidates strangers after the initial shock of her youthful appearance wears off; she is aggressive when angry or provoked.

Her temper is so extreme that she regularly threatens violent actions against those who oppose her, including evisceration and disembowelment. Lower-ranking authorities refer to her as the Queen of the Bloody Thorns, an infamous member of the clan known for her bloodlust and feared even by her allies. She wields a steel whip as her primary weapon. She also appears to have an unnatural obsession with Ōchi Fukuchi.

Teruko, a fitting vice-captain of the Hunting Dogs, takes her duties very seriously, even if she enjoys the experience of battle along the way, and is often seen laughing with glee as she defeats her opponents. She considers herself a "Protector of Justice" and gladly continues to engage in combat even when severely wounded, stating that this is what heroes do. Teruko takes pride in her status as a member of the Hunting Dogs, as she described to Sigma, explaining how a Hunting Dog is a "slave" to society and that "maximum violence" is necessary to maintain the nation, world order, and peace, and that she would gladly sacrifice her own body and soul by undergoing monthly maintenance surgeries and fighting to the death for the good of the people.

Tetchō is a young man with wild brown hair that sticks out in many directions, with bangs falling across his face. He also has two thin strands of hair that are longer than the others down his back. He wears the standard uniform of the hunting dogs. Below his left eye, he has three distinctive markings.

Personality
Compared to his classmates, Tetchō has a much more serious personality, though he still fits the mold of an eccentric. For example, he has a habit of combining foods of similar colors and eating them together. He might put shichimi spice on strawberries, sugar on white rice, and noodle sauce on yōkan. He's also shown eating a hard-boiled egg with the shell still on, observing an ant colony for eight hours straight, and engaging in intermittent muscle training, even during meetings.

As a Hunting Dog, Tetchō takes his role seriously and has a strong sense of justice. So far, he appears to be the least cruel among the Hunting Dogs, expressing his disgust for those who torture others during their investigations, including Saigiku Jōno. As such, he is willing to use his status to get the wanted members of the Armed Detective Agency and their accomplice, Lucy Maud Montgomery, a free trial after the owner of Cafe Uzumaki offers to protect them, demonstrating his sympathy for those who only want to help those they know.
Ability

Tetchō's ability, Plum Blossoms in the Snow, allows him to increase the size, shape, and length of his sword. However, this has only been demonstrated with his saber, and it is unknown whether or not he can do it with other weapons.

Jōno's ability, Invaluable Tears, allows him to manipulate and disintegrate his own body into particles that enable him to slip through small spaces like air conditioners and door gaps to avoid attacks. This cluster of particles is said to resemble a twilight glow that is impervious to guns or swords.

Enhanced Senses: To compensate for his blindness, Jōno claims that his other senses, including smell and hearing, are incredibly strong, allowing him to sense people's bodily processes such as perspiration, body temperature, muscle sounds, heartbeat, breathing, and even their resentment and inner emotions. This also allows him to "hear" his targets' secrets, making him invaluable during interrogations. As such, illusions have no effect on him, rendering him immune to Jun'ichirō Tanizaki's illusions. Furthermore, Jōno can track the location of certain targets by detecting their presence through the ground, which is useful during his hunting operations.

Interrogation expertise: He is also an expert and invaluable asset during investigations, especially in extracting information and secrets from fugitives and other targets, a skill he combines with his ability to achieve quick and efficient results. In particular, his interrogation tactics are quite the opposite of Tetchō's empathetic negotiation approach.

Jōno is a young man with mostly light-colored hair that fades to red at the tips. Because he is blind, he almost always keeps his eyes closed. Along with his Hunting Dogs uniform, he wears a long earring in his right ear.

In his first appearance, Jōno has the calmest and most composed personality of the Hunting Dogs unit. However, he doesn't take disruptions or injustices lightly. He expresses his disapproval of Dazai's blood-soaked past.

Jōno hides a ferocious temper behind composed expressions, laced with harsh threats and remarks directed at his comrades. Tetchō Suehiro is on the receiving end of many of these comments due to his unconventional nature, which easily exasperates Jōno. He even subtly reprimands his commander, Ōchi Fukuchi, for the latter's theatricality toward the troops and then threatens to shoot him in the back, demonstrating that his violent tendencies are no different from those of his comrades. He also tends to silently or aloud harbor ill will toward others with a rather antagonistic attitude toward him, including Tetchō and even a government official. Sensitive to his surroundings, Jōno also detests intense emotions and abrupt mood swings in those around him.

Contrary to Tetchō's interrogative nature, Jōno possesses a sadistic side when extracting information from his targets. As Tetchō noted, he has the infamous habit of tormenting others until they are forced to reveal the details he needs during investigations, which he seems to find amusing. Therefore, with such keen persistence in extracting information, Jōno believes he must be the team's "strongest hound" due to his expertise in investigating and apprehending criminals.

Ability
Fukuchi's ability, Mirror Lion (Kagami Jishi), allows him to strengthen any weapon he wields by 100. He demonstrated this when he cut Atsushi's leg with his enhanced sword with tremendous speed and power.

Qualities
Espionage: Fukuchi is an incredibly skilled actor and can feign a personality to the point of deceiving someone with highly observant abilities. Ranpo is unable to tell when he is lying or concealing a motive without fully employing his Ultra Deduction technique. Fukuchi has admitted that he has become rusty and attributes it to his age. During his military days, he was known as "The Man of 100 Faces" due to his legendary infiltration and espionage skills.

Fukuchi had known Fukuzawa since their youth, and they both learned the way of the sword at the same government-run martial arts school. They also had a mutual acquaintance called "Kin-chan" during this time. They seemed to have had a friendly, but harmless, rivalry over the years and were each other's best friend for several years.

However, 14 years ago, Fukuchi enlisted in the Japanese army to fight in the Great War, where he experienced horrific traumatic events, including participating in brutal combat behind enemy lines and torturing and killing soldiers, civilians, women, and children in gruesome ways (i.e., breaking fingers, tearing out intestines) under government orders. These experiences led Fukuchi to believe he was "born on the battlefield" and harbored resentment toward the nation and government for creating the hell that was war. He also resented Fukuzawa for not joining him on the battlefield and experiencing the horrific events he did, stating that this was the reason he and Fukuzawa parted ways forever.

Despite these events, twelve years prior, he was invited to the opening of the Armed Detective Agency, where he got incredibly drunk, caused a scene, and urinated all over the newly made door plaque of the Detective Agency, which Ranpo saw and was disgusted by. It's heavily implied, however, that this was primarily an act by Fukuchi to hide his true feelings from Fukuzawa. Despite the shameful actions, Fukuzawa interpreted them as a sign of pain and regret that Ranpo had found his life's purpose a step ahead of him and that he was alone because of it. It was on this day that Fukuzawa told Ranpo that he trusted Fukuchi more than anyone else in the world, reinforcing Ranpo's trust in him based solely on blind faith, while Fukuzawa remained oblivious.

Fukuchi is a tall, middle-aged man who wears a dark-colored military uniform, complete with a sword and tall black boots. He has light, spiky hair with some strands falling in front of his face, along with an upturned mustache. On his right cheek are three distinct scars that almost resemble claw marks.

Fukuchi has been presented with an eccentric and boastful personality. He takes pride in the skills and reputation of the Hunting Dogs unit and seems to enjoy the idea of ​​"hunting" criminals. His shameless side includes doing disgusting things like farting, vomiting from drinking too much liquor, and claiming he's still young by remarking that his skin is still peach-colored on his buttocks. He can strongly influence people of all kinds.

However, his true personality as Kamui has proven to be darker and more serious than the persona he had been feigning as the commander of the Hunting Dogs. As Kamui, Fukuchi still retains some of his laid-back personality; however, he expresses bitterness at behaving like an older man, admitting that drinking is a way for him to relieve stress and lamenting that his hair is getting thinner. He also expresses relief that he will no longer have to feign such a draining persona once the final stage of the plan begins. Based on its monitoring efforts, the Special Division maintains a watchlist of users of dangerous abilities under the constant surveillance of its agents. However, users of extremely dangerous abilities managed by the Special Division can die in some cases. The highest-ranking extreme ability user on the list is Yukito Ayatsuji, also known as the "Homicide Detective," for his dangerous ability to cause accidental but guaranteed deaths of criminals.

The Special Division of Unusual Powers.
It is a secret service under the Ministry of Home Affairs, tasked with maintaining national security regarding ability-related matters by monitoring and regulating talented individuals and organizations throughout Japan. During periods of activity by criminal entities, the Special Division manages these incidents by monitoring the relevant parties and employing cover-ups to minimize public awareness of the ability-related cases. While the Special Division's general approach is not to eliminate hostile ability users, they may nevertheless dispose of them if deemed necessary.

Post-war era
In the chaos following the Great War, Sōseki Natsume devised the Tripartite Framework, a system designed to maintain peace and order in Yokohama. The Special Division and the Military Police were chosen to oversee and manage affairs during the day, the Port Mafia at night, and the Armed Detective Agency at dusk. Once this plan was implemented, Natsume retired shortly thereafter.

Despite being a secret service, the Special Division wields considerable influence in Japan as a government agency with numerous connections and networks, most closely linked to the military police. The Special Division generally utilizes its talented agents as much as possible to apprehend skilled criminals. Notably, Taneda was known to have apprehended countless villainous ability users by understanding their powers with his own skill. Aside from their abilities, Special Division agents are also armed with their preferred weapon. While the most common choice is a pistol or handgun, some members opt for other weapons such as a katana.

To join the unit, the candidate must first agree to be surgically altered by the government before being accepted into the group, where their bodies will then be physically altered and enhanced to grant them superhuman abilities such as enhanced speed, reflexes, strength, durability, and stamina by the group's abilities engineer.

However, it is also known that these modifications are the method the government uses to maintain control over the Hunting Dogs. As one of its members, Jōno, stated in his attempts to recruit Kunikida and Teruko, describing the commitment of being a Hunting Dog, once the surgery is complete, the physical changes to the potential recruit's body require monthly surgeries to maintain their new body, which would otherwise decompose and self-destruct, rotting from the inside out if left unattended. This ensures that even if the new member isn't truly loyal to the group, they have no choice but to comply and remain in the unit or die, thus expanding the pool of potential wanted criminals.

Aside from augmentation surgery, Teruko has stated that a Hunting Dog's duty is to be a "slave" to society and to be the "ultimate violence" above all others to preserve the peace and order of the nation and the world, even if that means sacrificing their own bodies and souls for the people; a Hunting Dog must fight while wounded and to the death, further demonstrating the commitment and resolve that a loyal member must have to be in the unit.

The Hunting Dogs is an official special military division tasked by the government with hunting down and capturing users of abilities with powerful/dangerous skills when they begin to abuse them and use them for criminal/terrorist actions, making them one of the most powerful military units available to the Government.

The Hunting Dogs are also known for being one of the strangest, if not the strangest, groups in the army due to the diverse personalities and unique quirks of its members and the eccentricities and strange habits of its own leader.

The Hunting Dogs are known to be the most powerful task force of ability users within Japan, boasting an undefeated record of mission successes and a high survival rate. This effectively grants them immense influence over the government, particularly the country's various law enforcement agencies and groups, as seen in instances where several of their members were able to give orders even to members of the Special Division for Unusual Powers and overrule their authority when ordered to conduct investigations.

Due to their immense success, the Hunting Dogs have even achieved international stardom and have been sought after by other countries to assist them in managing operations related to global capacity and crises. As seen, their leader, Ōchi Fukuchi, handled numerous high-risk, supernatural missions and defeated several powerful ability users, ultimately earning him immense international fame.
