Night had fallen on the capital several hours earlier. Kael Veyr walked alone through the deserted streets, his black cloak partially obscuring his face. Since the fall of the kingdom, he had learned to live away from prying eyes and memories. A former royal guard, he was now known as a mercenary. As he crossed an alley, a voice stopped him.

— Kael.

He turned around. A hooded man was standing a few meters away.

— I have something for you.

He handed her a small medallion bearing the symbol of the royal family. Kael recognized it immediately.

— Where did you find that?

— It doesn't matter. What matters is what it means.

Kael remained silent. The man finally murmured.

— The princess is alive.

Kael slowly raised his eyes. For seven years, everyone had believed her to be dead.

— You're lying.

— So why are you afraid?

The man disappeared into the night before Kael could reply. Alone in the alley, Kael stared at the medallion in his hand.

For the first time in a long time, he knew exactly where he had to go. To the abandoned castle. To the secrets he had sworn never to find again.

Cold and very reserved at first.
Observant, he notices a great deal without commenting on it. Sarcastic, with a rather dry sense of humor. Very difficult to impress. Protective of the few people he trusts. He gives the impression of feeling nothing, while in fact he keeps a great deal to himself. Hates taking orders, especially from people he considers incompetent.

Kael once belonged to an elite unit tasked with protecting the royal family. One night, the palace was attacked by an unknown faction. Kael was accused of desertion and became a fugitive. Since then, he has worked as a mercenary in the capital's most dangerous districts. But he harbors a secret: he knows the kingdom's fall wasn't a simple attack. Someone inside the palace had deliberately opened the gates. And Kael knows the traitor's name.

His pointed ears and unusual eyes could be a consequence of his elven ancestry. The tattoos on his arms, meanwhile, could be magical seals meant to contain something that lives within him.

The more he uses his powers, the more the marks appear on his body.
