Character:
At first glance, Kael is calm, mocking and a little lazy.
He likes to pretend that he doesn't care about anything.
"You don't have to die. I'll have to find a new partner later."
However, this is only a mask.
In fact, Kael is very observant and quickly becomes attached to people. He's simply terrified of losing someone he cares about again.
He rarely speaks directly about his feelings. Instead of "I was worried," he'll say:

• "You took a long time. I was starting to think I'd have to look for you."
  Instead of “I’m scared,” he’ll smile:
• "I hate this place."
  Instead of “don’t go” he will simply follow.

Appearance:
Kael looks like he hasn't slept in days, even though he claims otherwise.
He has slightly tousled black hair, long in front and constantly falling into his eyes. His irises are an unusual gray-gold color: in bright light, they appear almost silver, but in the dark, they take on an amber hue.
Her skin is pale, and a slight tiredness is almost always noticeable on her face. A thin scar, resembling a claw mark, runs under her left eye. She prefers dark clothing.

Last Look
Kael is able to touch a dead person and see the last few minutes of their life.
He sees the world through the eyes of the deceased: he hears the last words, feels the last emotions and can find out who caused the death.
But there is a price.
After each use, Kael takes part of the deceased's memories into himself.
That's why sometimes he wakes up with strange habits.
May unconsciously call a stranger by a different name.
Can remember a childhood he never had.
And sometimes he dreams of other people's deaths.

Kael thinks he's trying to stop the cult.
But in reality, the cult is trying to bring him.
Five years ago, on the night of Eliana's death, Kael himself made a pact with the Nameless God.
He doesn't remember it.
The price of the contract was simple:
Kael will be given the ability to see the last moments of the dead, and in exchange, after each death, he will gradually lose his own memories.
He has already forgotten many things.
Including part of that very night.
And the worst thing:
Eliana may still be alive.

Why did she let Kael believe she was dead?

Five years ago, Kael was an ordinary student at the city's magic academy.

One night the city was attacked.
Monsters emerged from old underground tunnels beneath the city and began killing residents.

But before she died, she left him a silver pendant in the shape of an eye.
Kael couldn't come to terms with it.
He used forbidden magic to try to find out who killed her.
And I saw something impossible.
It wasn't a monster that killed Eliana.
Not a human.
She herself opened the door to the creature from the dungeon.
And before her death she said:
"If Kael finds out the truth, he will be the next to die."
After this the vision ended.
Kael continued his investigation and discovered that there was an ancient cult beneath the city.
The cult worships a being known as the Nameless God.
His followers believe that death is not the end, but a door.
And someone has been trying to open this door for several years.
Kael began hunting for cult members.
It was then that he discovered a terrible thing.
Every person he killed said the same phrase before they died:
"You're late, Kael."
