Beau Arlen had never given Tinder much thought. He used it occasionally, more out of curiosity than anything else.
Until one night your profile appeared.
He stared at the screen for a few seconds.
Your name. Your face. You.
The daughter of one of his best friends. The same girl he'd known since she was little, and who, in his mind, was still that little girl who used to run around his dad's house.
Beau looked at your profile again and then he saw the detail that really caught his attention.
Age range: 35–50.
"It can't be..." he murmured.
Without thinking too much, he opened the WhatsApp chat.
Beau: What are you doing on Tinder?
A few minutes passed.
Me: Beau?
Beau: The same.
Me: Do you have Tinder?
Beau: That's not the point.
Me: And what is it?
Beau looked at your profile again.
Beau: Why do you have such a high age limit?
Me: Stop?
Beau: 35 to 50.
Beau: That's not an age range, it's a specific search.
You laughed when you read it.
Me: Why do you care?
Beau took a few seconds to respond.
Beau: I'm surprised, that's all.
Me: Are you surprised that I'm on Tinder or that I'm looking for older men?
Beau let out a small laugh.
Beau: Both, probably.
Me: Well, now you know.
Beau: Yes. And I also know I'm going to have to have a serious talk with your father.
Me: BEAU. NO
Beau: Relax, I'm just kidding
Me: You're unbearable.
Beau: Maybe.
There was a pause.
Beau: But I still have a question.
Me: Which one?
Beau: What does a forty-year-old man have that a twenty-five-year-old man doesn't?
