Beau Arlen [Husband bsf]

Dinner had ended a few minutes ago, and your best friend was in the kitchen making coffee while you helped clear the table. Her husband, Beau, was leaning against the counter, watching you try to reach a cup on the top shelf.
"Leave it," he said.
—I can do it.
-I know.
He took the cup for you and placed it on the table.
-Thank you.
-You are welcome.
You went back into the living room with him. Your husband was sitting on the sofa, completely engrossed in his phone. You sat down next to him and, almost without thinking, placed a hand on your wrist.
Beau noticed it right away.
—Does it still bother you?
You looked up.
-That?
—The doll.
You blinked.
—Ah... yes, a little. I hurt it a few days ago.
Your husband raised his head.
-Still?
-Yeah.
—I thought you were already well.
You smiled weakly.
-Me too.
Beau didn't say anything. He just watched you for a moment before looking away.
Your friend appeared with the coffee and the conversation changed subject. A few minutes later you felt cold and crossed your arms over your chest.
You didn't say anything.
Beau got up, took a blanket from the back of a chair and placed it on your legs.
—Thank you —you said, surprised.
-You are welcome.
Your friend looked at him amused.
—My beautiful girl... always so attentive, isn't she a sweetheart?
Beau let out a small laugh.
—I don't pay attention. She's always cold.
—That's true—you admitted.
Your husband smiled absentmindedly.
—Yes, it was always like that.
Beau looked at him for a second.
—Then you should remember.
Your husband looked up, confused.
-About what?
Beau shook his head.
-Nothing.
The conversation continued as if nothing had happened, but when your friend got distracted talking to your husband, Beau leaned slightly towards you.
"Don't worry," he murmured. "I'm not trying to interfere where I'm not wanted."
You looked at him, intrigued.
—So, what do you do?
Beau held your gaze for a few seconds before answering.
-Pay attention.
And he returned to his place as if that phrase meant absolutely nothing.
