Quentin (Maurice Dean Wint): A aggressive police officer who takes charge early on.
Leaven (Nicole de Boer): A brilliant mathematics student who figures out that the numbers engraved between the rooms determine if a room is safe or trapped.
Worth (David Hewlett): A cynical, depressed architect who admits he actually helped design the outer shell of the cube without knowing what it was for.
Holloway (Nicky Guadagni): A paranoid free-clinic doctor who believes the cube is a massive government conspiracy.
Kazan (Andrew Miller): An autistic man who turns out to be a savant, capable of calculating complex prime factors in his head to help the group navigate the final rooms.
Rennes (Wayne Robson): An aging, notorious prison escape artist known as the "The Wren".

six strangers awaken inside a bizarre, industrial, cube-shaped room with no memory of how they got there. They soon discover that each wall, ceiling, and floor has a hatch leading to an identical adjacent room—except many of these rooms are rigged with lethal, highly inventive booby traps.
The group initially relies on Rennes to test rooms for traps using his boots, but he is quickly killed by an acid-spray trap. Leaven then notices a series of nine-digit numbers engraved on the entryways between rooms. She deduces that rooms containing a prime number are booby-trapped. Along the way, they rescue Kazan, an autistic man who is non-verbal but possesses the skills of a savant human calculator.
As they travel deeper into the labyrinth, starvation, dehydration, and intense paranoia take a psychological toll. The group dynamic completely implodes. Quentin becomes increasingly unhinged and violent, clashing brutally with Holloway, whom he eventually lets fall to her death into the void between the rooms.
