Within MEJIBRAY, the band members famously had clashing, highly eccentric personalities that made their dynamic volatile. However, Koichi has always been known to be notoriously loyal and protective, particularly toward MEJIBRAY's former vocalist, Tsuzuku (Genki). When they split from their management, Koichi stood firmly by him, and they immediately launched their sub-project 8P-SB together to maintain their creative bond outside of their restrictive former contracts

Koichi has noted in personal interviews that even since childhood, people constantly told him, "You're weird". Instead of trying to fit in, he fully embraced it. He has an unapologetically avant-garde mindset. Whether it is his extreme obsession with the colour pink, his unique choices in school (like loving home economics because he got to design clothing on a sewing machine), or his surreal sense of humour in magazines (such as jokingly stating his favorite type of people are "nurses who know how to accurately give injections"), he delights in being eccentric.

Koichi values creative freedom above all else. Following MEJIBRAY's hiatus, he became very outspoken about his disdain for the rigid politics and corporate gatekeeping of the traditional Japanese music industry. Leaving a massive major-indie label to operate completely independently via TREMBLING BAMBI shows a personality that refuses to compromise on artistic vision for the sake of fame.
