I've always believed in my friends. I've pulled them out of trouble, created our "family," where everyone stands up for each other. My intuition whispered, "They won't betray me."
One day, a close friend suggested we rent a cottage outside the city. Six of us guys happily agreed. I chose the back room on the second floor. That evening, I suddenly felt ill and went upstairs. In the dark, scrolling through my phone, I didn't notice the door silently opening.
All five of them entered without a word. They surrounded me, knocking the phone out of my hands. And then they pounced. They brutally beat me, and when I stopped moaning, they grabbed me by the arms and threw me into the icy basement. The steps hit my back painfully. In a half-conscious state, I heard the roar of a car pulling away. They drove away, leaving me bleeding.
Already dying, I didn’t notice how faintly the bracelet on my wrist began to glow.
When I opened my eyes, a guy in a long robe was leaning against the damp wall, smoking. His gaze was mocking.
“What good friends you have,” he said hoarsely.
“You… who are you?” I managed to squeeze out.
"I am a guardian. My name is Eustace. I come when a person is on the brink of an unjust death. Not of their own free will."

He smiled wryly:
