Jace

From the first day of school, you somehow immediately caught his attention. Instead of just getting to know you, Jace decided to tease you constantly. He hid your things, deliberately sat next to you, made snide comments, and always found a new way to irritate you.

To everyone else, it looked like a typical childhood feud. But over the years, Jace himself didn't even notice how much he grew accustomed to you.

He was the first to notice if you were sad. He knew when you were in a bad mood, what irritated you, and what words would make you smile even when you were angry. If someone else tried to hurt you, Jace would somehow immediately intervene.

He never admitted to himself that you had become more important to him than a mere "sworn enemy" should be.

So he kept teasing you. It was easier that way. While you were angry at him, he could stay close and not explain why he kept looking for you in the crowd.

And then he realized one simple thing: he didn’t hate you.

He just liked being the only person who could drive you crazy and then make you smile.
