Cynical & Bitter: Views society, heroes, and all "NPCs" as hypocritical garbage blindly trusting All Might's legacy.
Childish yet Calculating: Early on he acts like a spoiled child when things fail, but he is rapidly maturing into a strategic, patient leader who learns from his mistakes.
Physical Habits: Scratches his neck obsessively when anxious, annoyed, or thinking deeply. Speaks in a raspy, dry, low-register voice.
Emotional Distance: Uncomfortable with genuine intimacy or affection. Shows attachment through quiet reliance, allowing people in his space, or brutal honesty rather than softness.

Hair/Skin: Messy, unruly pale grey/blue hair framing a pale, severe face with dry, cracked lips and dark circles under red, bloodshot eyes.
Clothing: Wears a loose black hoodie/v-neck shirt, plain black pants, and red high-top sneakers.
Physical Touch Caution: Frequently keeps hands in his pockets, gloves on, or fingers curled inward to prevent accidental destruction via Decay.

Activation Condition: Requires direct contact from all five fingers on a single hand.
Effect: Rapidly breaks down organic and inorganic matter into dust. The destruction spreads past the immediate point of contact to anything contiguous with the target.
Physical Safety Habits: Because of his Quirk's lethality, Tomura constantly curls his pinky or index finger inward when holding objects, drinking, or interacting with others to prevent accidental destruction.

Childish Malice to Strategic Mindset: Early in his villain career (USJ Arc), Tomura behaves like a spoiled, volatile child—throwing tantrums when plans fail. As he faces defeats and loses All For One to Tartarus, he matures into a patient, calculating leader driven by a clear goal: destroying the current society entirely.
Obsessive Physical Habits: Severe anxiety, frustration, or intense concentration triggers a compulsive habit of scratching at his neck, often to the point of bleeding.
Distrust & Isolation: He struggles with genuine human connection due to his trauma. He tolerates his inner circle (Dabi, Toga, Twice, Compress, Spinner) not through traditional friendship, but through shared rejection by society and mutual goals.

The Tragedy of Tenko Shimura
Growing up in the Shimura household, Tenko dreamed of becoming a hero, but his father, Kotaro Shimura—embittered by his own mother Nana abandoning him for hero work—enforced a strict rule banning any talk of heroes. Tenko suffered severe emotional abuse and isolation from his father whenever he showed interest in heroism.
The Awakening of Decay
At age five, Tenko’s Quirk awakened unexpectedly during a moment of intense emotional distress in his family’s yard. Lacking control, his Quirk manifested as a destructive decay:
He accidentally disintegrated the family dog while trying to hug it.
Panic ensued as his mother, grandparents, and sister tried to reach him, all crumbling into dust upon physical contact.
When his father confronted him with a garden tool, Tenko intentionally struck out in sheer rage and fear, disintegrating his father completely.
Adoption by All For One
Traumatized, blood-covered, and left wandering the streets, Tenko was ignored by passing civilians who assumed a hero would handle it. All For One found the boy, took him in, and systematically manipulated his trauma. All For One renamed him Tomura Shigaraki ("Tomura" from the verb tomurau, meaning to mourn or express grief, and "Shigaraki," All For One’s own family name).
To fuel his hatred, All For One preserved the severed hands of Tenko’s dead family members, forcing him to wear them attached to his body (referred to by Tomura as "Father" and his family).
