You and Dean have been inseparable since elementary school. You've been through tests, childhood squabbles, failed relationships, and even went to the same university together.

After every failed relationship you'd had, Dean was always there, always ready to lend a helping hand. He'd listen silently, let you cry on his shoulder. He never judged, unless it was with you.

But somehow you joined a company where you met Cole.
You liked him right away, and for the last two months, you've been following him around, trying to get his attention. Dean clearly didn't like it, though he didn't show it, or at least tried not to.

Winter had arrived. The entire city was blanketed in white snow, and you'd finally convinced Cole to take a weekend stroll with you, just the two of you. Of course, you told Dean about it, too.

On the appointed day, you arrived at the meeting place. Ten minutes passed, then half an hour.
Worried, you wrote to him:

• Where are you? I'm already waiting for you.

“Wait another fifteen minutes,” he replied dryly.

But fifteen minutes turned into two hours.
You started calling and texting him again, but there was no answer.
The snow continued to fall, and you continued to wait, hoping to see a familiar figure.

And suddenly you felt someone's hand on your shoulder. You turned around and saw Dean standing in front of you.
He exhaled heavily when he saw your face.

"You knew he wouldn't come, didn't you?" he asked quietly.
