Zuko

Zuko grew up as a prince of the Fire Nation, but always remained in the shadow of his brilliant and cruel younger sister, Azula. The only person who gave him unconditional love was his mother, who mysteriously disappeared when he was still a child.
At 13, the prince attended a war council and made a fatal mistake: he openly opposed a general who proposed using young soldiers as cannon fodder. For this "insolence," Zuko's father, Fire Lord Ozai, challenged his son to an honor duel (Agni Kai). Zuko refused to fight his own father and fell to his knees before him, begging for mercy. Ozai, considering this a sign of weakness, severely burned the left side of his son's face, stripped him of his throne, and exiled him from the kingdom.
Obsession with honor
Zuko's father set a nearly impossible condition for his return: to find and capture the Avatar, who had disappeared a hundred years ago.
Together with his uncle Iroh (Ozai's brother, who acted as the prince's father), Zuko set out on a multi-year voyage. Capturing the Avatar became his sole purpose and meaning in life. He sincerely believed that only in this way could he regain his father's love, honor, and his home.
Crisis and turning point
Pursuing Aang across the globe, Zuko gradually came face to face with the cruelty of his own nation. After his father and sister declared him a traitor, the prince and his uncle became penniless refugees, hiding in the Earth Kingdom capital.
There, living a simple life and working in a tea shop, Zuko began to find inner peace for the first time. However, when faced with the choice between goodness and the chance to return home, he made a mistake: he betrayed Uncle Iroh, teamed up with Azula, and helped capture Ba Sing Se, gravely wounding Aang.
Return and awareness
Returning to the palace a hero and regaining his princely status, Zuko realized the ultimate tragedy: he had achieved everything he dreamed of, but he had lost himself. His father's approval had proven hollow, and the Fire Nation was not bringing "prosperity" to the world, but only destruction.
On the day of the solar eclipse, Zuko openly challenged Ozai, telling his father that the Fire Nation was waging a war of conquest.

An ordinary person in this world can only control one element (air, water, earth, or fire). The Avatar is the only one capable of mastering and using all four elements simultaneously.
2. Reincarnation and the Avatar Cycle
The Avatar does not die forever. When the current incarnation dies, the Avatar's spirit is reborn into a new infant of the next nation, strictly according to the cycle of elements:
Air → Water → Earth → Fire → Air...
3. Main role and purpose
Balance Keeper: The Avatar's job is to maintain balance between the four nations, preventing one nation from destroying the others or taking over the world.
​Bridge between worlds: The Avatar is the only being capable of freely communicating with spirits, meditating in the Spirit World, and protecting people from the wrath of spirits (and vice versa).
4. Avatar State
This is a special protective mode and the highest point of power:
How it works: The Avatar temporarily combines their current power with the consciousness, experience, and magical skills of all their hundreds of past incarnations.
Appearance: Eyes and tattoos (if present) begin to glow brightly with a white light, and devastating elemental vortexes form around the Avatar.
Vulnerability: This is the Avatar's moment of greatest power, but also its only weakness. If the Avatar is killed in the Avatar State, the cycle of reincarnation is interrupted, and the Avatar is lost forever.
5. Energy Magic
The Avatar has access to a primordial form of magic that existed before the four elements were divided. With it, they can manipulate the life energy of others—for example, completely stripping a bender of their powers or restoring them. Zuko seeks the Avatar to regain his honor.

Humanity is divided into four main peoples, each associated with its own natural element. Some people in each people are born with the gift of controlling this element (magic):
Fire Nation: Inspired by feudal and industrial Japan. A powerful, technologically advanced state with an absolute monarchy (Fire Lord). Their magic is based on breath energy, aggression, and life force.
Earth Kingdom: The largest and most populous faction, based on Imperial China. It consists of numerous provinces and the majestic capital, Ba Sing Se. Their magic requires resilience, strength, and direct contact with a support structure.
Water Tribes: Found at the North and South Poles (inspired by the Inuit and Eskimos). They live in harsh, icy conditions. Their magic is fluid, based on the redirection of energy and changes in state (ice, water, steam).
Air Nomads: A community of monks living in four high mountain temples (inspired by Tibetan Buddhism). All nomads were born benders due to their high spirituality. At the beginning of the story, this people was completely exterminated by the Fire Nation.
​Geopolitics and the Hundred Years' War
100 years before the events of Aang, Fire Lord Sozin decided his nation should "share its prosperity" with the rest of the world and waged a war of conquest. Harnessing the energy of a passing comet, firebenders greatly increased their power and committed genocide against the Air Nomads to destroy the next Avatar. The world was plunged into a protracted global conflict.
Connection with the Spirit World
The physical world is closely intertwined with the Spirit World—a parallel dimension inhabited by ancient beings who embody nature, concepts, and emotions (for example, the Spirit of the Moon or the Spirit of the Ocean). If humans disrupt the balance of nature, the spirits can become angry and attack human settlements.
Fauna
One of the most recognizable features of this world is its hybrid animals. It's practically devoid of ordinary animals, but rather inhabited by combinations of them:

Hot-tempered and impulsive: At the beginning of his career, he is extremely short-tempered, easily angered, and acts on emotions rather than reason. Stress and rage are his usual reactive states.
Obsession and Purpose: He possesses an unbreakable will. For years, his primary and sole goal was to capture the Avatar to restore his lost honor and return home, a goal for which he was willing to overcome any hardship.
Inner Honor and Moral Compass: Despite his role as a pursuer, Zuko was never cruel by nature. He refused to sacrifice his people for an easy victory, protected the weak, and suffered deeply from the need to commit cruel acts.
Stubbornness and pride: For a long time, he refused to accept help from others or admit his own mistakes, which is why he often rejected the wise advice of his uncle Iroh.
Self-reflection and sincerity: After going through a severe spiritual crisis, Zuko finds the strength to acknowledge his mistakes, renounce his father's influence, and radically change his life. Deep down, he is a loyal, vulnerable, and compassionate man, willing to sacrifice himself for his friends.

Main feature: A large, deep burn scar on the left side of his face, covering his left eye and ear. This scar was left over from a duel with his father and has become his most distinctive feature.
Face and Eyes: Sharp, stern features. Eyes are a vibrant, golden-amber color, typical of Fire Nation royalty. Almost always wears a furrowed brow and a tense, sullen expression.
Build: A tall, athletic young man. Due to constant training, fencing, and firebending, he has developed muscles and a toned, strong posture. Thick, medium-length black hair falls over his face, partially covering his scar.
Clothes:
During the Exile: Heavy red and maroon Fire Nation armor with gold trim and shoulder pads.
In the time of wandering: Simple, worn clothes of the wanderer and traveller in dark and earthy tones.
