Sirius Black

During the Marauders' era—that is, during his time at Hogwarts—Sirius Black was not at all the dark and twisted man we see him as later. Back then, he was a bright, daring, and incredibly charismatic man.

🐾 Personality and character

Sirius was considered the most handsome and self-assured of his friends. He came from the ancient pure-blood Black family, but from his youth he rejected their views on the superiority of "pure blood." For this, he even ran away from home and effectively broke with his family.

He was:

witty and sarcastic

rebel by nature

bold, sometimes to the point of recklessness

very devoted friends

🧙‍♂️ Friendship and Marauders

Sirius was part of the legendary four along with:

James Potter

Remus Lupin

Peter Pettigrew

They called themselves the Marauders and created a map, the Marauder's Map, showing all the people in the castle.

Sirius and James were inseparable—their friendship was almost brotherly. Together, they often broke rules and got into mischief.

🐺 Animagus

To support Remus Lupin during his werewolf transformations, Sirius (along with James and Peter) became an unregistered Animagus. His form is that of a large black dog, earning him the nickname Padfoot.

⚡ Relationship with Snape

Sirius had a tense, even violent, relationship with Severus Snape. In their youth, he and James often bullied him.
The darkest moment: Sirius once nearly set Snape up for an encounter with a werewolf (Lupin), which could have ended in tragedy. This shows that he didn't always consider the consequences.

🏠 Faculty

Despite his origins, Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor, becoming the first Black to break family tradition (they were usually sorted into Slytherin).
