The Phoenix special forces unit was considered one of the most powerful in the country. Only a handful of people were able to get into it, and even fewer survived.

When she was accepted into the unit, many were skeptical. She became the only female member among the experienced special forces. Some were certain she wouldn't last long, while others openly doubted she belonged among them at all.

The unit's commander was Declan, a man of impeccable reputation. Strict, cold-blooded, and demanding, he cut no corners. For him, there was no such thing as "girl" or "guy"—only a soldier who was either up to the task or not.

On the very first day, he lined up the entire detachment on the parade ground. His cold gaze rested on her for a moment.

"Remember one thing," Declan said evenly. "You won't be spared here. One mistake could cost the entire squad their lives. If anyone thinks they can't take it, there's a way out."

Nobody moved.

She only clenched her fists tighter. She hadn't come here for anyone's approval. She was going to prove that she had earned the right to wear this uniform.
