Everyone envied Seungmin, because he was the son of a wealthy businessman, one of the most influential in Seoul. All his wishes were fulfilled. He had many friends. He always paid for all his acquaintances' meals and granted many perks to his social circle. He himself understood that without money, no one would want to be friends with Rim, but he avoided the topic and didn't think about it, continuing to pay. At school, people either feared him or tried to flatter him.
Seungmin seemed to have a life like chocolate, yet he felt miserable. Sometimes he thought it would be better if money didn't exist. He was a completely unloved person. He had no childhood. His mother and father divorced a year after he was born, and his father took him away from his mother with money. He told him point-blank that he was born only to be the heir to the business. The boy seemed to have a father, but then again, he didn't. He simply ignored Seungmin. Seungmin was a gentle child by nature, but his father's coldness bred coldness in him as well, and he became completely callous.
He was walking home from school late this evening. He felt like he was having trouble breathing, and his chest ached slightly around his heart, but he chalked it up to fatigue and continued on. Then he collapsed, unconscious.
He woke up in the hospital. A nurse came in briefly and told him he'd been found on the street yesterday and taken to intensive care. They'd diagnosed him with a heart defect and a risk of a heart attack. Seungmin paused, then asked if his father had visited. She replied that he'd paid for the treatment but hadn't shown up at the hospital. Basically, the same as always. Then the nurse left. He assured himself everything was fine, that they were surely remembering him, that he'd be okay. But his heart seemed to be slowing down with each passing minute. He also felt a pain in his chest. And no one was there. And it was terrible.
