The Hogwarts Express

The Hogwarts Express suddenly jolted to a stop. The temperature dropped rapidly, frost spreading across the windows as the lights flickered out.

Hermione:"Why have we stopped? We can't possibly be there yet."

Harry stepped toward the window, but the train violently shook, throwing him back.

Ron:"What's happening?"

Harry:"I don't know. Maybe we've broken down."

Darkness filled the compartment.

Hermione:"Ron, you stepped on my foot!"

Ron peered through the frozen window.

Ron:"There's something outside."

The train shuddered again.

Ron:"I think someone's getting on."

The compartment door slowly opened. A tall, decaying figure in a black cloak stood in the doorway. Crookshanks hissed while Scabbers scrambled away.

The Dementor moved toward Harry. A terrible cold filled the compartment as Harry's strength began to fade. Echoing screams filled his mind.

Professor Lupin, who had been sleeping in the corner, suddenly awakened.

Lupin:"Expecto Patronum!"

A brilliant silver-white Patronus burst from his wand, charging toward the Dementor and forcing it away.

Harry collapsed, barely conscious.

Hermione:"Harry? Are you all right?"

Harry slowly opened his eyes. The lights were back, and the train was moving again. Hermione handed him his glasses.

Harry:"Thank you."

Lupin offered him a large piece of chocolate.

Lupin:"Here. Eat this. It'll help."

Harry:"What was that thing?"

Lupin:"A Dementor. One of Azkaban's guards. It's gone now. It was searching the train for Sirius Black."
