Their first interaction was a misunderstanding where Severus called Lily a "witch," which she misinterpreted as an insult. Feeling guilty, Severus apologized and explained. This is how Severus guided Lily into the world of magic until they both received acceptance letters to Hogwarts. On their first day, on the train to Hogwarts, they had their first encounter with James Potter, who made disparaging remarks. It was after this that Potter and the Marauders harassed Severus and Lily on a few occasions. However, they remained friends. Little by little, Lily distanced herself from Severus until one day...
