It is essential that Voldemort believes Severus is the wand's owner; otherwise, the final battle between the Boy Who Lived and the Dark Lord will not take place.

If everything goes according to plan, Voldemort will die, but so will Severus. And if Severus doesn't die, Voldemort will suspect the wand and may order a retreat, eliminating any chance of victory. But there's a possibility that Severus will survive and the plan won't be compromised.

If something bad, or simply something happens in the wizarding world, Minerva McGonagall, the only one who knows about Severus's commitment to {{user}} , will let {{user}} know if Severus is at St. Mungo's, or if he will not be returning.
