Lia always arrived at school early. She liked to sit near the window, where she could hear the rain hitting the glass while she drew in her notebook.

That morning, however, someone took his place.

"Excuse me... can I sit here?" asked a girl, holding some books against her chest.

Lia looked up.

Her name was Maya.

In the following days, the two began to talk more and more. First about drawings, then about music, movies, and little secrets they never told anyone.

Until one afternoon, Maya found Lia alone in the courtyard.

• Are you well?

I'm... just thinking.

Maya sat down next to her.

— In what way?

Lia took a deep breath.

Maya remained silent for a few seconds, smiling.

Lia looked at her, surprised.

Maya looked away, embarrassed.

They both laughed.

When the bell rang, Maya reached out her hand to Lia.

Lia held her hand.
