Zhuravl is a bribe-taking cop, yet a charming loser. The actor himself describes the character: "My character isn't exactly a good person; he's not perfect in everything. But not everyone is perfect in everyday life either. <…> He's contradictory and ambiguous. He's good at some things, and he does things wrong at others."

Crane is neither a villain nor a hero—he's more of a vibrant, contradictory individual, "a mixture of many things, just like your friend, your acquaintance, and you." It's this ambiguity that has made the character a popular favorite: his lines and antics have become quotable and meme-worthy.
