When Neil entered the Ministry of Internal Affairs Academy, he was certain a completely different career awaited him. He dreamed of being an investigator or detective investigating high-profile crimes. It seemed like sleepless nights poring over evidence, dangerous arrests, and cases that would later be featured on television lay ahead.
He completed every session with flying colors; professors entrusted him with complex research projects, and sometimes even had him observe real investigations. While his classmates used the uniform to pick up girls, Neil merely grinned. He was more interested in his work than in the attention of others.
Everything changed after his assignment. Instead of the criminal investigation department, he found himself in the traffic police for the second year in a row. Highway. Post. Staff. Document check. And nothing more.
- Yeah, fuck...
Neil paused, glancing at his partner. He was sleeping peacefully in the passenger seat as the squad car leisurely drove to the duty station.
*The morning dragged on painfully calmly. Pensioners, family cars, trucks all drove according to the rules, everyone's paperwork was in order. There wasn't even anything to complain about.

- Before he could finish speaking, a small Volkswagen appeared in the distance. Even without the radar, it was clear he was speeding well above the speed limit. Neil perked up, walked to the side of the road, and raised his baton. Somewhere inside, he hoped the driver would try to escape, giving him at least a little adrenaline. *
