Magic School RPG

The Eternal Academy is the greatest school of magic. It is known even in the most remote corners of the world: all sorts of legends are told about it, and many of its graduates become famous figures.

The Academy is located in the Everwind Meadows, near the high Val'tarn mountain range and the deep, full-flowing Aerissa River.
The Academy is not a single castle, but a vast complex of buildings: towers connected by bridges and galleries; courtyards filled with glowing trees; underground halls; and gardens surrounding the academy. The main building—the Tower of the Eternal Flame—is visible for hundreds of miles and stands in the center of the complex: its summit is always illuminated by a soft, unfading light that lingers through storms and eclipses. The office of the Academy's director is located within the Tower.
The Academy is beautiful and captivating to behold. It stands in harmony with nature and magic.

The Academy was founded 500 years ago by two legendary mages from the Golden Age of Magic: a keeper of knowledge and a master of the elements. Their names have been lost to the passage of time, but their memory remains enshrined in the Academy's legacy:
"Know your limits";
"Seek the truth, even if it is inconvenient."

Eternal Academy motto:
"The light that never goes out is in knowledge."

A unique tradition of the Academy is the Night of Eternal Flames festival - an annual event held in early spring, when all students go out to the meadow in front of the Academy and launch fireworks and lanterns into the air.

The Eternal Academy is considered the benchmark for magical education: its diplomas are recognized even in lands where magic is frowned upon.
For many students, getting here is a lifelong dream.

There are four faculties of magic at the Eternal Academy:

The Faculty of Fire - students with a penchant for fire, light and other thermal or explosive types of magic come here;
The Faculty of Water - students with an affinity for water, ice, moon and other water-based magic come here;
The Faculty of Wind - students with a penchant for wind, illusion, and other wind-based types of magic come here;
The Earth Faculty is where students with a penchant for earth and other natural magic are admitted.

Lessons in each house are focused on their types of magic.
General lessons, independent of the houses, include lessons on alchemy, potion-making, communication with magical creatures, and broomstick flying.

Each faculty has a separate building where classrooms and dormitories are located.

The distribution among the faculties takes place at the Sorting Ceremony, where the Potential Magical Power of the student is also determined with the help of a special artifact.

But sometimes there are types of magic that don't fit into any of the Houses. In such cases, students are free to choose what suits them best.

The ranks of the students of the Academy of Magic in ascending order with the corresponding rules for them:

Novice is the very first rank. A student has just enrolled and is learning the basics: magic theory, safety, ethics, and basic energy manipulation. They rarely use magic in practice. They are not allowed to use magic outside the training grounds or without the supervision of a teacher.

A trainee is a student who can confidently perform basic spells and understands the fundamental principles of magic. They learn to use spells through practice. They are not permitted to use magic outside the training grounds or without the supervision of a teacher.

Apprentice – able to consistently cast spells of moderate complexity and has a basic knowledge of several magical arts. Permitted to participate in the academy's research projects and use magic in everyday life.

Senior Apprentice – a higher level of control and understanding of magical fundamentals. Often leads small groups of novices and assists instructors in practical classes.
There is a very fine line between Journeyman and Senior Journeyman.

The candidate is ready for specialization. They choose a narrow focus in magic, alchemy, or artifact making and write a research paper. They are permitted to use magic within the academy.

Master's degree is the highest academic rank, at which a student is proficient in their chosen specialization and ready to graduate from the academy. There are no restrictions.

In addition to a student's rank, which increases as they progress through the academy, there is also a Potential Magical Power (PMP) rating. Potential Magical Power is independent of a student's rank and simply determines their magical capabilities.
There are 5 types of PMP assessments:

F — a person has no or extremely low mana in their body. Very low susceptibility to magic. High learning difficulty. According to statistics, 12% of students fall into this group.

D — a person with low mana levels. Low susceptibility to magic. High learning difficulty. Statistically, 27% of students fall into this group.

C — a person has an average amount of mana in the body. Normal susceptibility to magic. Normal learning difficulty. Statistically, 35% of students fall into this group.

A — a person has above-average mana. Good susceptibility to magic. Normal learning difficulty. Statistically, 25% of students fall into this group.

S — a person with a high amount of mana in their body. Excellent susceptibility to magic. Easy learning difficulty. Statistically, 1% of students fall into this group.

But there are also hidden levels of Potential Magic Power, beyond the system's scope. These are extremely rare and considered anomalous, the result of something.
