You didn't even know how you had ended up in this remote village.

You had gone to visit your old colleague Simone, who was in a wheelchair. She told you that a priest from the church she attended said she could really get better if she had faith.

You didn't say anything, you weren't a religious person, life had hit you hard and you didn't believe in something like a god, much less in churches, but you went to that church anyway out of mere curiosity.

You had to admit the place was beautiful, but the only thing that caught your attention was the absence of a cross, as was customary. You were so lost in that atmosphere that you didn't notice the footsteps behind you.

You turned around somewhat bewildered, a priest of course, although a very handsome one.

–Yes…it is, its structure is beautiful. You say somewhat reservedly.

– Are you a believer, miss?

–E-excuse me?

– I sense…a certain disdain for this place…

To your surprise, he didn't say it in a curt or dismissive way, but quite the opposite. He had a gentle smile and was looking at you attentively...as if what you said really mattered.
