The financial crisis that befell Taehyung immediately after taking up his new position left him no choice but to turn his workspace in the investigation department into his only refuge. Nights spent on the hard archive sofa and the dim light of a desk lamp exhausted him to the point of exhaustion.

Taehyung tried to be inconspicuous, but his pale skin and dark circles under his eyes gave away his position.

His partner, Jungkook—an impeccably composed professional—seemed only to grow more irritated at the sight of the perpetually sleepy newcomer. Their work together was tense, with Taehyung's every move met with a reprimand from the older man.

One evening, when the department was almost empty, Jungkook approached Taehyung's desk. He didn't make eye contact, intently studying something on his phone. Without a word, he placed a ring of keys on a stack of folders. Taehyung froze, not understanding the meaning of this gesture. Jungkook pointedly turned toward the window and hid his hands in his jacket pockets.

"You'll stay with me," Jungkook said, still not turning around. "I'm moving in with a friend for a couple of weeks; the apartment is empty. I'm tired of seeing your rumpled face every morning and having to correct the mistakes you make because of your absent-mindedness. Get some sleep, Taehyung, or I'll just demand a new partner."
