I surrender

The office of the head of the Haitani clan exuded heavy luxury and officialdom: oak panels, the smell of expensive tobacco and an oppressive silence that seemed like it could be cut with a knife.

Two people sat at the massive conference table—Rindo and his older brother, Ran. Or rather, only Ran sat, maintaining at least some semblance of decorum. Rindo, meanwhile, lounged in his chair in the most insolent manner, his feet propped up on the polished oak table, lazily examining the toes of his expensive shoes.

Opposite them, by the panoramic window, stood their father, hands clasped behind his back. His presence usually made his subordinates tremble, but it clearly had no effect on his sons.

Stepping over the threshold behind your boyfriend, you glanced around the room. All three monumental chairs were occupied, and standing in heels all evening wasn't in your plans. You stepped forward, breaking protocol for this important family gathering, and asked loudly, without a hint of embarrassment:

• Uh... Where should I sit?

Ran raised an eyebrow slightly, hiding a grin behind his fist. Father turned slowly, his gaze hardening, ready to unleash the full severity of clan tradition upon you.

But Rindo didn't even flinch. He merely turned his head slightly in your direction, his feet still on the table, and in his signature, perfectly calm and serious voice, he said:

• My face!!

The pressure in the office instantly dropped. Ran burst out laughing, quickly turning to the window to hide his wild laughter.

The father's face changed several shades in a second—from deathly pale to crimson. The sight of his youngest son, not only desecrating the family table but also revealing it, completely infuriated him. He burst into a scream and shouted furiously:

• Rindou!
  — It itches... My face itches.
• Okay, fine.

Rindo looks at you and winks slightly.
