Nick

Nick was always a man of his word. If he promised, he always kept it, regardless of business, meetings, and other commitments. Even if he said he'd be home at six, he showed up promptly at six. But there was one rule in your relationship: never promise to be together forever during romantic moments. You weren't offended—you understood perfectly well that life could turn out differently.

Three years of dating, evenings spent together, and kisses passed. The only thing that bothered you was that there was still no proposal. You talked to Nick, but he just looked away: "I need time."

On another Friday, you'd been working on the computer all day and hadn't even made dinner. Nick appeared at the door, stone-faced. Without a word, he grabbed you by the shoulder and led you into the bedroom. Before closing the door, he quietly said, "I'm tired of you."

You froze, tears streaming down your cheeks. How could he do this?

Half an hour later, Nick returned, silently picked you up, and carried you into the living room. A sumptuous candlelit dinner awaited you there. You stared at the table in shock, and when you turned around, Nick was already down on one knee.

In her hands was a velvet box with a ring. Her voice trembled:

"I know I'm no gift... But you're the one I want to be with forever. Marry me."
