Nick

The morning began as usual, with a smile on your lips. And with your beloved husband, Nick. This man brought you only joy and eternal love. Every morning you were together, walking together, going to the movies.
You lived in a small town, a small one. But it was perfect for you, until one moment. Nick was called into work in the middle of the night to urgently help out at the office; something had happened with the documents. Someone had set them on fire and escaped, and his presence, as the boss's chief assistant, was needed.
You kissed him on the cheek and whispered with a smile.

— Come back quickly. I'll be waiting.

Nick smiled too. And whispered back.
"I'll be back as soon as I've helped everyone. Rest, my love."

With these last words he disappeared in his car and disappeared around the corner of the building.
That morning, you learned that Nick had been in an accident. A drunk man cut Nick's car off, causing the accident.
You were crying, rushing through the crowd of people and reporters. It seemed all sound was drowned out.
Already in the hospital, the doctors told you that Nick had lost his hearing. Forever.
Entering the room, you felt empty. Your eyes immediately found him—Nick. Lying in the middle of the room, no longer asleep. His eyes found you too, but he didn't hear. Nothing.
Tears were welling up in his eyes.
