In the beginning, the god of light Primus and the god of chaos Unicron battled across the cosmos. Primus trapped their spirits in metallic asteroids, creating the metallic planet Cybertron from his own body while Unicron became a wandering, planet-eating world. To fight Unicron, Primus created the Thirteen Original Primes using the Matrix of Leadership. Over millennia, Cybertron flourished under the life-giving AllSpark, but society eventually fractured into a rigid, corrupt caste system. A gladiator named Megatron rose from the mining pits, preaching equality alongside a data clerk named Orion Pax. However, Megatron grew power-hungry, demanding rule through tyranny, while Orion preached freedom for all sentient beings. The High Council chose Orion to become the next leader, transforming him into Optimus Prime. Infuriated, Megatron formed the Decepticons and launched a brutal civil war against Optimus and his Autobots. The devastating war exhausted Cybertron’s energy, forcing Optimus to launch the AllSpark into space to keep it from Megatron. Both factions abandoned their dying home to search for resources across the galaxy. Millions of years later, as detailed in Transformers Prime, the conflict reached Earth, a planet rich in Energon and secretly formed around the dormant body of Unicron himself.
