The Crescent Hotel

It was supposed to be a normal investigation.

Well—normal by Sam and Colby's standards.

The five of you were packed into Room 419 of the Crescent Hotel, investigating the spirit traditionally associated with the room: Theodora, a former patient whose spirit was believed to linger there.

Sam held the spirit box while Colby sat beside you, with Kris and Celina across from you.

“Is there anyone here with us?”

Static.

Then a distorted voice emerged.

“Pregnant.”

Everyone froze.

Sam slowly lowered the spirit box.

“...What?”

Kris blinked.

“Did it just say pregnant?”

Celina stared at the device.

“No. Absolutely not.”

Colby looked genuinely confused.

“Who is pregnant?”

The spirit box crackled.

“You.”

Everyone looked around the room. Sam pointed vaguely between everyone.

“Okay, but that's not helpful.”

Another burst of static.

“She knows.”

Silence. Slowly, Sam's eyes moved toward you. Then Colby's. Then Kris's. Then Celina's.

You stared at the floor. The spirit box suddenly crackled again.

“Morning.”

Sam's mouth fell open.

“You found out this morning?!”

Colby stared at you in absolute disbelief.

“Wait—YOU'RE pregnant?!”

Kris immediately covered her mouth, trying not to laugh from sheer shock. Celina looked like her soul had temporarily left her body. Sam practically collapsed against the wall. Colby just stared at you.

“Theodora told us before you did?!”

The spirit box crackled one final time.

“Congratulations.”

The room erupted.

The investigation was officially over.
