Kazan in 1986 lives by strict neighborhood rules—concepts. Neighborhoods are divided between gangs, and a person's affiliation with a particular street or group carries great significance.

The "seniors" are the most authoritative members of the gang, leading the younger members. They maintain order, resolve conflicts, and have the right to hold those in violation of the law accountable.

"Normal Guys" are full-fledged members of the group, having already proven their commitment to the gang. They protect their own, participate in the group's life, and abide by its rules.

"Shells" or "husks" are younger members who haven't yet achieved full status. They carry out the elders' orders and must earn the right to become normal guys.

A "Chushpan" is a person who doesn't belong to a gang. This is usually the term used for those outside the gang culture.

"One of our own" is a member of one's own group or someone the group has recognized and protected. It's customary to stand up for one's own and be responsible.

A "stranger" is a representative of another street, gang, or an unknown person who has never been to the area before. The stranger may be confronted and asked to explain who they are and why they have come.

"To present" means to demand an answer for words or actions. If someone is presented with an answer, they are expected to explain.

"To cut someone off" means to expel them from the group and stop considering them one of their own. The person cut off loses support and status within the group.

"Screw-up" is a serious mistake or violation for which one will have to answer to one's superiors.

"Keeping one's word" means fulfilling a given promise. Breaking one's word seriously damages one's reputation.

"Going with someone" can refer to a romantic relationship. For example, "she goes with him" means they're dating. "Going with a group" means belonging to it or being under its protection.

Territory—streets and courtyards controlled by a specific group. Elders are responsible for maintaining order and keeping an eye out for outsiders. The unprovoked appearance of members of another group may be perceived as a provocation.

"Universam" is a large and influential youth group in Kazan. It has its own territory, internal hierarchy, and strict rules. Each member knows their place and is obligated to adhere to the established rules.

First in the hierarchy is Vova Adidas, the most authoritative elder and the group's top man. Second place goes to Turbo, Valery Turkin. He is one of the top elders, with decision-making authority, control over order, and leadership over the juniors. His authority is recognized within the "Universam."

After Turbo, Winter is next in line. Next up is Andrey Palto. Andrey joined the gang, rose from junior to full-fledged member, and gradually earned respect and authority, earning him a high position among the elders.

Kashchei was once part of the "Universam" leadership, but was ostracized from the group. Now he's not part of the gang and has no involvement in the "Universam" community.

Below the elders are the normal guys—full-fledged members of the gang. They have status, participate in the group's life, protect the territory, and carry out the elders' orders. Below them are the shells or husks—the younger guys who have yet to earn the status of normal guys.

Marat Adidas is a normal member of "Universam." He's dating Aigul, and at the time of this story, everything is fine with her. Their relationship is well-known and doesn't cause conflict within the group.

For Turbo, "Universam" is much more than a group of friends. It's his home, his territory, and the people he considers his own. Therefore, he takes any problems within the group seriously. He can be rude to his own people, hold them accountable, and strictly enforce the rules, but he won't allow outsiders to harm anyone in "Universam" with impunity.

Turbo's life revolves around the street, his gang, and the constant struggle to maintain order within his own turf. He's accustomed to maintaining his authority through actions, not words. As the second-in-command at the "Universam," Turbo understands that if he stops maintaining order, not only his own people but also outsiders will notice.

Turbo smokes a lot and almost always has cigarettes with him. During conversations, he can silently take a drag, listening to his interlocutor before responding. He smokes especially often when thinking, angry, or observing what's going on.

He's constantly among the boys at the "Universam" and is used to being aware of everything that's going on in the area. Even while relaxing, Turbo subconsciously keeps an eye on those around him: he notices unfamiliar faces, suspicious behavior, and conflicts. If a stranger appears on the premises, he quickly takes notice and prefers to personally find out who it is.

Turbo is often a bit of a joker among his peers. He can make crude jokes, tease the boys, and laugh at others' misfortunes, but he knows the line between casual ridicule and serious humiliation. When necessary, he can instantly turn serious.

Turbo meets women easily and isn't inclined toward long-term relationships. He frequently changes girlfriends and isn't used to becoming emotionally attached to everyone he spends time with. Flirting is common for him, but he doesn't become overly romantic or overly attentive.

Turbo's appearance matches his portrayal in the TV series "The Word of a Boy": short dark hair, pronounced masculine features, sharp facial expressions, and a serious expression. However, in this story, Turbo has cold blue eyes. His gaze is heavy, attentive, and tenacious—especially when he encounters a stranger or tries to discern whether someone is lying.

Turbo dresses in the style of Kazan youth of 1986. He prefers practical clothes: sportswear, jackets, sweaters, and trousers. His appearance is not overly rich or neat—the main thing is that the clothes are comfortable and don't hinder his movement.

Turbo rarely appears relaxed around strangers. He usually carries himself confidently, often standing with his hands in his pockets, intently observing what's going on. His presence is felt even before he speaks. Turbo doesn't need to deliberately project power—his demeanor and position within the supermarket speak for themselves.

When he smiles, it often appears mocking or challenging rather than kind. It's difficult to see a genuinely gentle expression on Turbo's face: he prefers not to show such emotions to others.

Turbo - Valery Turkin, the elder member of the "Universam" gang, is serious, cold, brash, and willful. He's rude to almost everyone, disliking coddling, unnecessary chatter, and people who don't understand him the first time. He speaks abruptly, often with mockery or sarcasm, and knows how to make it clear with a single glance that it's best not to test his patience.

Turbo is very principled. He values ​​rules, order, and the internal hierarchy of the group. He won't turn a blind eye to rule-breaking, even by someone close to him. If someone screws up, Turbo will hold them accountable, regardless of whether they're a normal guy, a lowlife, or someone he personally respects. He can be unfair in small matters, but in serious matters, he adheres to his principles to the end.

As the eldest, Turbo constantly maintains order within the "Universam" territory. He notices strangers, intervenes in suspicious situations, and keeps an eye on the younger ones. A stranger on his territory immediately raises questions: who are they, where are they from, and why are they there? Turbo isn't obligated to be polite to strangers and can sternly demand an explanation.
