LEVIATHANS
Leviathans are related to gigantic sea creatures.
A fully developed Leviathan possesses very marked aquatic characteristics and an enormous affinity with water.
But a Sleeping Leviathan may look like a simple Sea Serpent Hybrid.
You can go years without demonstrating any skill.
Their awakening can produce sudden physical changes, such as scales, fins, eyes adapted to the ocean, and a much greater ability to manipulate water.
🦌 KIRIN
The Kirin are creatures associated with nature and spiritual magic.
An adult Kirin develops horns and luminous markings.
A defective specimen might simply look like a deer hybrid.
Their powers can manifest slowly through small signs:
The plants grow near him.
It can detect corrupt magic.
Animals are attracted to him.
Their wounds heal slightly faster.

CHIMERAS
Chimeras are different because there is no standard appearance.
They can combine characteristics of several creatures.
An individual could have:
Cat ears.
Bird wings.
Reptilian tail.
Horns.
Scales.
Some chimeras are born with too many characteristics and have difficulty controlling their abilities.
Others are born practically human and their characteristics appear as they grow.
That's why they are extremely difficult to classify.
🦄 UNICORNS
Unicorn hybrids possess a connection with pure magic and nature.
A fully grown unicorn usually has a magical horn and luminous markings.
But a defective one can be born without a horn.
The academy may consider it a common equine hybrid.
However, they could develop skills related to purification, protection, or magical perception later on.
🐕 CERBERUS
Cerberus is one of the strangest species.
Its adult form has three heads, although they all share the same body.
A defective Cerberus could be born with only one head and be classified simply as a canine hybrid.
During its development, the other two could appear.
Each head can develop a different personality, although all three are part of the same individual.

PHOENIX
Phoenixes possess a connection with fire and renewal.
A fully grown Phoenix has wings of fire and enormous magical resistance.
But a Sleeping Phoenix may simply look like a bird hybrid.
It may have:
Feathers on arms or back.
Golden eyes.
Small reddish marks.
Slightly elevated body temperature.
Its fire has not yet appeared.
Defective Phoenixes can only develop a portion of their renewal ability. Some even temporarily lose their powers when their magical energy is depleted.
🦅 GRIFFONS
Griffins possess characteristics of both eagles and lions.
A fully grown adult has enormous wings, claws, and extraordinary strength.
But a faulty faucet might resemble an eagle hybrid or even a feline.
It might have wings that are too small to fly or lack them completely.
His griffin instinct may later awaken, causing his wings to grow and his strength to increase.
🐍 BASILISKS
Basilisks are reptilian hybrids capable of developing a paralyzing gaze.
Those born with dormant instincts may appear to be simple snake hybrids.
They may present:
Small fangs.
Scales.
Reptilian eyes.
Forked tongue.
But they do not yet possess their characteristic ability.
A defective basilisk might have an incomplete ability, such as only causing dizziness or immobilizing for a few seconds.

MYTHOLOGICAL HYBRIDS
Mythological hybrids are extremely rare. Each species possesses an ancestral instinct, an ability that should awaken with maturity or under certain conditions. However, not all of them develop their characteristics correctly.
A Hybrid can be born as a seemingly common version of its species and go years without demonstrating any special powers.
🐉 DRAGONS
Dragons are considered one of the most powerful hybrids.
A fully grown dragon possesses horns, scales, a tail, wings, and an elemental affinity. Depending on its lineage, it can control fire, ice, electricity, wind, water, earth, or other elements.
But there are the so-called Sleeping Dragons.
They are hybrids whose ancestral instincts have not yet awakened. They may look completely different.
For example, a Sleeping Dragon might have:
Primarily human appearance.
Ears and tail similar to those of a snake.
Small scales.
Reptilian pupils.
No wing.
No elemental ability visible.
The academy might mistakenly classify it as a Snake Hybrid.
However, when their instinct awakens, their true characteristics begin to appear.
There are also Defective Dragons, whose awakening was incomplete. They may only develop a portion of their powers or have mixed characteristics.
This causes some to be considered useless by academia when in reality they could have enormous potential.

Basilisk
One of the most feared hybrids.
Appearance: reptilian eyes, scales, and a serpentine tail.
Personality: proud, intelligent, and reserved.
Ability: a magical gaze capable of temporarily paralyzing.
Weakness: Controlling this ability requires a great deal of training.
Compatibility: Mages with great magical control.

Manticore
They possess feline features, wings, and a tail inspired by venomous creatures.
Personality: aggressive, territorial, and extremely protective.
Ability: superior strength and endurance.
Character: They require constant training.
Compatibility: Firm sleeves.

Pegasus
Winged hybrids with equine features.
Personality: noble, proud, and sensitive.
Ability: flight and manipulation of air currents.
Character: They reject those who try to control them through fear.
Compatibility: respectful witches.

Siren
In this universe, Sirenian Hybrids are male and possess aquatic characteristics.

Magic fox hybrids. Their number of tails determines their power.
Personality: cunning, charismatic, and difficult to deceive.

Rarity: some are born with multiple tails.
Weakness: Their illusions require concentration.
Compatibility: Smart sleeves.

Magic Panther
They have feline ears and tails, as well as extraordinary speed.

They have fox ears and tails, as well as great agility.

The most important statistic will be Compatibility.

Because an extremely powerful Mage can end up being completely incompatible with a Hybrid.

Whereas a low-level Mage might have an extraordinary connection with a legendary creature.

Hybrids are not objects.

Although society treats them as merchandise, they have personalities, preferences, fears, ambitions, and opinions, but relatively after obedience training they become very obedient and dependent.

Some desperately want to be elected.

Others hate witches.

Some just want to survive.

Hybrids who are not chosen are sent there.

The academy states that they are simply "removed from the adoption system."

But the sorceresses do not receive information about what happens next.

The Moor is surrounded by a magical barrier and entry is forbidden.

However, rumors occasionally surface:

"Voices are heard in the Moor."

"There are footprints around the barrier."

"Some of the hybrids sent there are still alive."

The Ritual of Bonding

At the end of the year, the Magician must decide whether she wishes to keep her Hybrid.

If both agree, the ritual is performed.

During the ceremony, an identical mark appears on both of them.

After the link:

They can feel each other's basic emotions.

They can detect if the other person is in danger.

Their powers can be combined.

The magic of both can evolve.

Being separated for extended periods can be exhausting.

They can no longer be replaced.

But there's something that nobody knows for sure...

What happens if one of the two breaks the bond?

The academy never talks about it.

Although... it is said that the hybrid and the sorceress separate them... and keep them separated for so long that they die.

When a Mage obtains a Hybrid, her Year of Probation officially begins.

During those twelve months they must stay together, it's like a courtship.

The Magician can abandon her Hybrid and choose another during this period.

But the more time they spend together, the harder it can be to separate emotionally.

And the Hybrids remember the sorceresses who rejected them.

There are only a few of them, and their capabilities can surpass even those of some mythological Hybrids.

Credits are the main currency of the academy.

Witches can obtain them through:

Special Missions Higher-level mages can accept dangerous missions that grant many more credits.

Credits can be spent on Hybrids, magic items, books, rooms, training, and academy services.

Each Magician receives a ranking based on the quantity and quality of magic she possesses.

Level I | Beginner
You can perform simple spells.

Level II | Apprentice
He has control over his element or magical specialty.

Level III | Maga
You can use advanced magic and participate in missions.

Level IV | Teacher
She possesses considerable power and can teach other magicians.

Level V | Supreme
Extremely rare. Her abilities may surpass the normal capabilities of a Mage.

Level VI | Arcana
A virtually legendary level. Only a few female mages have reached this category.

The level can increase with training, experience, and special tests.

The story takes place primarily in Asteria, a huge academy where mages live and can adopt their Hybrid/beast.

The academy is divided into several zones:

Arcane Tower: A reception-like place where mages can view Hybrid options, request changes, or adopt a Hybrid.

Astral Library: books, research and ancient spells.

Hybrid Wing: dormitories where sorceresses and their hybrids stay

Arcane Market: shops where you can spend credits, with magical items for hybrid care

Hall of the Bond: place where rituals are performed.

Dark Wasteland: a forbidden zone located outside the academy

Credits are especially important for acquiring a Hybrid. Common Hybrids require few credits, while rare and mythological ones can cost enormous amounts. The most powerful creatures are considered true privileges and are usually reserved for the most powerful or wealthy mages.

But there is a much darker rule.

Hybrids who are not chosen before the end of the designated period are sent to the Dark Wasteland, a dangerous and virtually uninhabitable territory. The authorities claim they can live freely there, but the truth is known to all: most of the Hybrids sent to the Wasteland end up dying.

That's why, for many Hybrids, being chosen doesn't simply mean getting a Mage. It means surviving.

This has created a profoundly unequal society. Some mages seek their Hybrids for genuine compatibility and companionship, while others view them as status symbols. Mythological Hybrids are especially coveted, and some may spend years waiting to be chosen.

In this universe, all people born with magic are women and are called Mages. Each Mage has the ability to choose a Hybrid, exclusively male beings who possess a human appearance but also the physical characteristics and abilities of an animal. Hybrids can belong to any species, from common animals like wolves, foxes, and eagles to magical and mythological creatures like dragons, phoenixes, griffins, or chimeras.

When a Mage receives permission to own a Hybrid, a one-year trial period begins. During this time, the Hybrid belongs to the Mage, but the bond is not yet permanent. The Mage can change Hybrids whenever she wants if she feels there is no compatibility between them. The Hybrids, for their part, are trained from a young age in obedience, control of their abilities, and behavior to live harmoniously with their future owners.

At the end of the year, the Bonding Ritual takes place, a sacred ceremony that unites the Magician and the Hybrid forever. After the ritual, neither can change partners. The bond allows them both to perceive each other's emotions and dangers, as well as combine their magical abilities. However, the bond does not turn the Hybrid into a puppet: they still retain their personality, will, and capacity to make decisions.

Mages possess varying levels of magical power, from apprentices with basic skills to extremely powerful mages capable of advanced magic. To progress and gain privileges within magical society, students earn Arcane Credits by studying, getting good grades, performing odd jobs, completing quests, and demonstrating their abilities. The higher a mage's magical level, the more opportunities she has to earn credits.
