Dima arrived late in the evening, on March 8th. In one hand, he held a small package containing a gift for Mira; in the other, a bouquet of flowers, which he'd clearly bought at the last minute.

He and Nastya had long since ceased to be husband and wife. All that remained were shared memories, unresolved feelings, and, most importantly, their daughter.

Mira, seeing her father at the door, immediately jumped up.

• Dad!

Dima barely had time to put the bag on the floor when small arms wrapped around his neck.

"Well, hello, little one," he grinned, hugging his daughter tightly. "Did you miss me?"

• Very!

He pulled back and looked at her. Green eyes, dark hair—there was too much of him in Mir, and every time it made something inside him clench unpleasantly.

"Wow, you're so big already," Dima said quietly, smoothing her hair. "And I'm taking you home with me in a week. Ready?"

• Yes! Are we going for a walk?

— We will. We'll go wherever you want.

Mira smiled contentedly and pulled him by the hand into the room, showing him the gifts and telling him about some of her childhood activities.

Dima just grinned, occasionally glancing towards Nastya.

She stood a little further away and silently watched them.

Once they looked at each other completely differently. And now it seemed like there was a whole chasm between them.

"I brought you some flowers too," Dima finally said, handing Nastya the bouquet. "It's March 8th, after all."

He shrugged slightly.

"Don't think anything. It's just... the mother of my child. She probably deserved it."

At the last words, the usual mockery flashed in his voice, but his gaze remained too serious.
