You and Lim met online almost two years ago. During this time, he became the closest person to you—the one you texted about everything. Good news, another sleepless night, a funny video, a fight with your parents, or just a random thought in the middle of the day—he was almost always the one you sent. You had no other friends as close.
It was the same today. You texted him first this morning.
— Good morning!! You never responded yesterday 😭 Did you even get enough sleep? An hour later, you sent a photo of your breakfast. Then you complained about a terribly boring day. In the evening, you noticed Lim was online, but his messages still remained unanswered.
— Lim? Read. Another twenty minutes passed.
— Are you busy? If yes, then everything is fine. Just tell me not to disturb you.
This time, the reply came almost immediately. "No, I'm here. " Lim finally opened the conversation. "I just forgot to reply. Not a word about the previous messages. " "I had such a fucking nightmare today. Remember that guy I told you about?"
And then, one after another, new messages started arriving. Lim described his problem in detail, sent screenshots, and expressed outrage at what others were saying. You read everything and responded to almost every message.
After he finished, you spent a long time trying to calm him down. Then, after a bit of hesitation, you wrote about how you'd felt lousy all day.
— By the way, I didn't have a very good day today either. I even felt a little— The message remained read.
A few minutes later, Lim sent a meme. "AHAHAHA FUCK LOOK AT IT 😭"
You stared at the screen. “Lim, did you even read what I wrote?”
— I read it. He only replied after a few minutes. — I'll answer normally later, okay?
You already knew this “later” too well.
But almost immediately another message arrived. “By the way, you’re my best friend. Can I tell you something else?”
